Did I freeze a lung?

If you froze 3 or 4 fingers pretty badly and are having breathing problems but yet you will not see a doctor because you don't have insurance, well... pretty effing stupid. Cough up the cash and get checked out.

And no you cannot freeze a lung. Like others have pointed out. You would have to die before your lung could freeze.

The 1st time agree with ole mile high....:beer;:beer;

Yes i'd see the Doctor and have a Chest X-ray.At that elevation and extreme temp its possible for a pulmonary injury just from altitude/cold temps.Many climbers get fluid build up in the lungs at elevations above 10000 feet.How old are you and do you have any other sysmptoms other that Short of breath when running?Any productive cough,wheezing or cracking sounds when you inhale/exhale.Swelling in the ankles or short of breath when you lie flat?

You thinking sarcoidosis ?

It is possible you froze your lungs. If so you may have a lot of scare tissue built up. This could have a serious effect on your breathing. If your young and healthy it will regenerate VERY slowly. It may take several years, but you should be feeling some improvement already. If not you need to buck up and go see a doctor. There are meds that will help.

Dude... spend the bucks and see a specialist. They will give you meds and probably send you to a therapist. They will REALLY make a difference. My dad had part of his lung removed due to cancer (never smoked a cig in his life either but that is another story) and he went to a therapist which gave him some stuff to work on including a pyrometer/sphigometer (sp) to practise taking big breaths and then breathing out hard for a duration. This really helped him heal quicker.

Don't take your health for granted dude! Take care of yourself now otherwise you won't enjoy life later!

Thanks for the help..........BUT

My contact with doctors has been bad. Many visits with constant run arround. "" if it still bad in a week come see me again'' ''we have a pill that will help'' I'm not sure, we'll send you to a specialist''. In a time when X-rays cost a grand and MRI's three times that. not counting doc visits. I'll just die.

I cant blame you for that the doctors are all on the take from the drug/insurance companys. they dont care the just want to give you some pills that may likley do just as much harm as good! If i am not bleeding badly or have broken bones I wont go to the doctor and I have insurance!

Get the vet to x ray it. I got three shots of my dogs hips for 180 bucks!!!

c-ya on the other side. Hope you can take that money with you!?!

Maybe not - but he can have fun spendin it on the way out! Live like yuhr diein?

how much fun can you have if you are winded after running a hundred feet?

or as he stated not even being able to sled at elevation?

Anybody here of this? Jan. '07 I was climbing at Mt. Jefferson on a very cold day. I froze three or four fingers and had a lot of trouble breathing. The fingers healed fine , but a year and a half later, I can't breath good enough to run a hundred feet. I'm wondering if I can ever ride high again.
Has anyone else had this? Will I get better? I don't have insurance so I stay away from the professionals.

Owen

ok, since you wont go to a specialist...atleast try this!!!!

Maybe it's the same BONG resign that has effected your head, moved to your lungs. Did you drink the bong water and have it go down the wrong pipe?

go find a job with health benefits. there is no way in hell i would work for a company that did not offer this to me. riding sleds is to dangerous and risky to not have insurance. if you think that your job now is to good to leave take another look, you can't afford to get help because you have no cash, you have no cash because your job doesn't pay you enough and they don't offer insurance. (this is all hypothetical, i don't know your job situation).

There do you feel better now!:beer;

Job? what's that? That might be the problem with the ins.

I don't have one of those. Maybe your worse off than me. How do you get insurance without a job? I tried it a few years ago, that's ins. not a job, they charged me $600 a month with a thousand deductable. I'm sorry, I couldn't keep paying that. A new sled every few years is half that much.
I here the most of you '' go to a doctor'' but I was hoping by asking my good friends on Snowest I could get a clue without endless time spent in doc visits.
I watch my neighbor's family run to the doctor once a week or more for every little cough. I know that's part of the reason many of us can't afford health ins.
