detination flash/temp light

that light keeps flashin but motor is not hot i got 05 800. goin down the trial at high rpm it does not come on but low rmp or just takin off in the deep snow it comes on and retards my sled, in turn leaves me stuck. does that sensor just go out or slowy go bad? are these just warnings that is goin bad?

My suggestion is to check continuity btween them and either disconnect or jump them depending on test results then run the sled and see which sensor is acting up. You can further test if the sensors turn out ok.

this maybe a dumb question but what settin should have the gauge on and what do i touch the probes to

I have seen a few of those sensors go bad and act that way. The sensor is cheap. It is worth replacing to find out.

unplug the sensor in the head and run it for a while to see if thats it. i have had that happen more than once.

If its Flashing it's because you are seeing detonation, a solid light is water temp. The water temp sensors($20) go out all the time, the DET sensor ($40) not so much. Heres a few things to check. Make sure you have good high octane gas (its fresh, not left over from last season), try changing between premium and reg gas on the key switch, see if that makes any difference. Make sure the DET sensor is pluged in. Also make sure it is bolted to the motor and not loose. It will not run right if its not plugged in or flopping around.

I'm seeing the same thing on my 04' 800 RMK. The Temp light flashes four times. Is that a code for something? Or could it be that we added a quart of oil to the gas for the first time engine break in? Does anyone know what the resistance should be on the sensors?
