Det problems

So I ride a 2012 Pro Rmk 163. It has the stage 3 slp kick on it. I have had 2 TPS replaced on it so far with no other issues until this last week. A couple short rides at a lower elevation then I ride, fouled plugs like crazy. Take it back up to the mountains 7000ish feet. Day one ride starts giving me the TPS issues again, and a few det limp modes. Okay so take it home open up the tps plug looks okay put some dielectric grease into it, adjust the belt. 2 days later take it back up to the same area and its detting like crazy. 3/4 throttle or a quick Wot and its trips the Det limp mode. Shut if off so many times I break the pull cord.

Took it into the shop today first they could not repeat the problem, then when they took it for more than a 200 ft drive they got the same issues. They Checked the tps etc all good, changed the fuel and now say Cant figure it out.

Any ideas guys ?

Run 25% VP-110 and get your octane around 93, detonation should be gone. Assume your buying 87 at the 91 pump because you may be, survey in motor trend several years ago revealed 30% of stations claiming to sell 91 were selling diluted 91, some tested at 87. I've run into a few guys in the last few years with the same issue. It seems most everyone that runs higher compression than stock and don't run race gas have issues.

I have a 12 163 w/stage 4 kit and run 10% av gas, Startron eth treatment, and I also run in eth mode to be extra safe all with very good results. Could also be needing a little more clutch weight if you are running too many rpms? Yesterday I hit the det twice for the the 1st time in over two years and found it was caused by pipe heat shielding clamp that came loose and was banging round by y-pipe. The sensors are quite sensitive.

Hello

I agree with everyone's thoughts that they have stated above,

Fuel is likley the cause...As mentioned above I run 4 gallons of 90 Octane Non Ethanol with One Gallon of VP C12.

Also anything loose can cause the DET to come on

I am running a stage 3 kit and have been getting the same issue lately. The shroud on the heat shield had came lose bit I tightened it up and the problem persists. I'm getting a DE7 code. Anyone know what that particular code is

Installed a PAR 13.5 head and was getting DET at 6 - to 7000ft on every ride at high rpms. No problems at higher elevations. Figured I needed a little more octane.
I heard SLP recommends Lucas Octane Boost so I gave it try. Straight up fixed the DET. I haven't had a problem since. Its cheaper than race gas and easier to get. Might want to give it a try. It says on the bottle not for 2 stroke engines but SLP thinks its because it has not been tested for them. They use it in their whole fleet of sleds.

Check the torque on your spark plugs. I fouled a plug when my sled was running great, changed out the plugs and over-torqued them and had problems with DET. Got home and put another new set in and torqued them to spec and had no more problems.

The sled spent Friday in the shop and sat in there over the weekend, picked it up today and its still doing its thing. The dealer doesn't have any ideas, brought it home went over the connections all seems good. Took it out for a ditch bang ride started to det as soon as it warmed up. I unplugged the det sensor and tried again. Didn't go into limp mode but didn't sound like it was running right, rattling (det noise). I don't know, new gas in it poured a can of injector cleaner in and am going to changed the fuel filter. Taking it down to West yellow Stone tomorrow, so hopefully it fixes itself up and doesn't blow up on me. Anyone know any Polaris dealer on the way down there from Alberta.

I have a 12 with the slp stge 2 kit. I got a drop in kit installed a week ago and first ride out was getting det at 3/4 to wot throttle as well. It did sound and feel like it was as fuel starved. We adjusted the fuel mapping on the controller by adding 5% at 7700 to 8500 rpm and 60% to full throttle.

I took it out tonight and it did det twice in the first 6 or so braaps of the throttle at the start of the ride. I rode it for another hour and tried all different levels of throttle from short bursts to a full minute wot down the river and it did not det again. It is actually running better than i think it ever has now.

I think you should try adjusting your mapping to give the sled more fuel.

Find out anything else? Still have problem?
