Demo Rides on a Turbo

Hey guys, I thought I would update everyone on the pump gas kit from HM Turbos. I went to turbo day at Lolo Pass and got to ride it, the thing rips! I think it hits harder than any other pump gas kit I have ridden at only 6 lbs. As fast as I hit the throttle, the Boost gauge is pegged at peak boost. Shane has agreed to let me take it back to Boise to get some saddle time on it and report back. Anyone who might be interested in taking it for a ride, PM me and I will try to meet up somewhere (McCall, Cascade, Trinities, Pilot's). I am going out with Shane today to do some testing as well as suspension adjustments. The sled is a stock 2009 Dragon(new) with only the kit and venting added, along with running board traction and the MAG side torque arm installed. I will post some images from the ride later today.

Update on the pump gas turbo, I took a couple of people out last weekend to West Mtn. and the response was great. Heading to the fun run in Smiths Ferry Saturday, look for the sled

I am trying to get some input for the guys at HM Turbos for improvements as they are starting the design on the 2011 kit in Feb.after they get their first peek at the new models. PM me if you think you might be in the area Sat and we'll meet up. Shane just posted a short video from the testing up at Lolo Pass over New Years, check it out: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ojdkNOdwVjM

Hey guys, we just uploaded a little video from the final testing day when Spudman was up here. Check it out, and get with Spudman if you want to ride the pump gas sled, we have been very pleased with the power. The 91 Octane burns faster and the turbo seems to love it!

We have finished our initial testing of a new pump gas kit at 11.5 lbs. with bursts to 13.5 lbs. on 91 Octane and tore it down to inspect the cylinders and pistons. Everything looked good after 250 HARD miles, but we did experience some loosening of the spark plugs, indicating detonation. We are going to continue the testing and hope to produce a kit in the future that can run 10-11 lbs. on a 15/85 mix ratio(race/pump) reliably without damaging the motor.

I will keep you updated, but in the meantime check out the video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ojdkNOdwVjM

Remember, this kit is for both pump and race fuel, the only change is the boost level. The sled that Spudman has can be changed to give it more power by just changing a spring/washer.

I got to ride the HMTurbo - Boise Area.

I've been emailing back and forth with Dave and finally set up a time and place to ride his HMTurbo sled. We went to Malcomson Snowmobile Park last Friday afternoon. Always wanted to ride a turbo sled and this was my "Bucket List" chance. My sled is a '04 1M 900 EFI. From my old style sled, to the new style and then add a turbo made me take it a little slow and easy. One time I was up on the left side and the sled went right and I went left. Dave said once the primary adjustments are made, very little change in setting. I had a great time and contact him if you want a ride. He will have it here in Boise area until March.

Go to website.

If you go to hmturbos.com you can get info on kits, etc. If you click on "245 hp cyclops", on home page, you can get some price info. Send a private message to "Spudman", Dave, he can answer your questions or get you answers from HM Turbos. It was flat light conditions when I rode the sled but was a great experience.

Thanks Acgreen,

The sled the you rode, is the same sled on in the video link above as well. It is a stock D8 with the pump gas turbo, intercooler, clutching, torque arms, vents & running board traction. Shane is asking $16,900 for the sled(it only has 225 miles on it). Anyone in Idaho is welcome to try the sled out, just PM me and we'll try to set up a ride.
