DEEP DEEP snow track speed XP

You can see my mods in my signature. I am pulling 44 to 46 mph at 8200 rpms, at about 8600 ft, with clickers on 4 or 5, in 2.5 to 3' of snow. Before mods and clutch adjustments (not mods), pulling 7800 rpms and 35 to 38 mph.

Much happier now with mods and clutch working right.:)

Trying to compare track speeds from different guys on different days is like wearing sandals and pissing in the wind with the hope of your feet staying dry.........not likely. Somedays I've seen 47mph, some days 45, some days, 49. All the same hill, with the same set-up, but.......different snow and temps.

Well this was snow that pulled the gutz outta the motor. Deep, sticky crap that packed the tunnel and suspension, but yet it wasnt warm out. So Trinity, with you BJ 860 (I think??) and a 156 2 1/2 track it would be likely to say that you would see 45 sustainable in a burst pull of 15 or 20 sec. WOT??

Sounds good. By adjustments what do you mean?

My bushings went out in my clutch. I was having a little trouble with consistency on the R's because the clutch would stick open and slip. Changed out the bushings with new, and it has run better ever since.

went out today, CRA kit, clicker on 2, 8336 rpm max gauge, 8200 rpm on analog, 79 km on every pull. going to try clicker 1 next.

Yep..........that was in 3'+ heavy trenching snow. I will hit the hill at 8250-8300 and hit the top at 8150-8200. She only gives up a hundred RPM or so. She'll do a little better with the Gates belt, but those things let loose with a BANG:eek: She's a runner:D

So 48-49. Impressive. What are the snow conditions, what is the track length?? CRA? Whos that?

all soft down deep, could only hook up once in a while on wind blown areas. tried different parts of the hill too, to the point where it was just makin it over. 154 08 xp w/ can. Super Torquer CRA kit. I had a couple of small issues but got it figured out. Runs smooth too.

my 08 xp would only get 42-45 mph track speed any snow except hard concrete crust then it was more.
Mods on it were cpi glass pack can, 166 2.4 " track. 433 ramp with thunder shift arms, 44-33 helix. Climbing mother.

my 09 xp gets any where from 45-47 to 61 mph track speed depending on type of snow, and faster on concrete crust snow. mods- slp pipe set up, trygstad 13.2 head, 166 2.4 " track, rle arms and 433 ramps, straight 44 or 46/42 helix both about the same , also have a set of heel clicker CRA arms and saw about the same mph's but had to much over shift. tom's evolution air rear suspension( NO MORE SAG) plus it rides better now that my back bumper doesn't drag on the ground.

All in the jackson hole area.

In 4ft of POW in Whistler last week i rode two XPs back to back -

2008 XP w/ Rooster Built clutching and 20/45 gearing - was 154" and I weigh 220lbs without gear - 40mph but was over revving, so we clicked it down and speed jumped up to 45mph in the deep. Jumped on stock 146" XP 2009 same gearing (20/45) and stock 2009 clutching - it was pulling 46mph in the deep, but wouldn't climb as high the 154" - UNLESS i track poached and then it did pretty dang good.

Nice sleds - almost convinced me to ride one next year... I'd sure miss the power of my 1000 though. Maybe if they come out with an ETEC 800 in 2011 i'll jump on a Doo. Love the riding position over the cat, but my kitty has balls. :D

What do you mean about too much over shift with the CRA arms?
