DEEP at Greenwater area.

Was at green water yesterday and it was deep. alot of people stuck just in the meadows. Did make it around the back side but took all the 800 had just to cut trail on the roads getting out. Best ride i've had in years! Put our machine's through the ringer, and my buddy overheated and we had to drag him out. Luckly it made it out to the cabin rd. before it happened.

I haven't ridden Greenwater. I have a few questions. 1. With the avy danger as high as it is now, is it safe to ride around there this Saturday or Sunday? 2. What's the road in look like? Can I park in Enumclaw and ride the sled up to the snow park? 3. If the snow is deep can you park down below on the road and ride the sleds up the road to the snow park? Thank...

i haven’t ridden at GW yet this year. However, most of the riding is on log roads and meadows. the hills around there are fairly low angle and for the "most" part pretty safe even in high avy conditions. if you are just looking to ride you should be fine. obviously the hazard exists and you should always be cautious etc bla bla bla. but no big terrain traps to get to the meadow.

DNR has had the bottem gate to snowpark closed due to icy roads. Have to park down there then ride in. Hazards are low up there, and roads are easy to stay on. Word is bottom gate will remain closed.

Went up Tuesday

Went up last Tuesday and the powder was so deep that even the drive past the gate had plenty of powder. drive in the narrow 2 to 4 snowmobile track trails and then veer off and power through the powder.

I decided to go around the back side and stick to the forest trails/ road.
Up top the powder depth makes it difficult to know exactly where the roads/trails are.

I overshot the road due to powder being so deep and went off the side of the trail.

took me 35 minute to dig out after I dug my brother out when he tried to turn around to help me.

earlier we manager to go down a steep trail and my brother was pushing powder all the way up to the top of his windshield.

Very difficult to get up any moderate hill, need your sled at full powder and generally allows only a moderatly slow speed.

Riding was allot like riding a standup jetski. definatly different from normal riding. I didn't want to slow down as I could see getting stuck pretty easily. with the wind and the drifts the powder was bottomless.

I am going to give it another go on Saturday. Once the trails are groomed it should be awesome and give a better opportunity to go off trail and boondock.

Went up yesterday 1/21. Snow up top was deep. Went for a route round back to pyramid. Had to blaze a trail. Pretty fun. Small hills were fun but the soft snow made for a few unsuccseesful steeper hill climbs.

Plenty of snow and sleet falling. made visability a challenge.

Sun Jan 22

Was up @ greenwater today, parked @ the bottom gate, passed the groomer on the way up.. Yes it was Deep, Chest Deep in several areas.. didnt get up there till 11 or so. prob about 25 or so rigs lined up. thought it would all be beat up, never really saw anyone once we got on the other side of Pyrimid, pretty much breakin trail all afternoon, hardley any tracks off the road at all. be careful you will get stuck, it is as close to idaho pow that we get over here!! Visibility was the biggest problem, snowing about an inch plus an hour all day, slightly foggy as well. tomorrow will be an epic day if it clears up a bit. Enjoy the flatts, boondocking is amazing in this snow, climbing, well get your shovel.. Cheers!
