Debating a Pro 600 (instead of 800)

Hey guys, seeing a lot of good deals on the 600's. Did some research and people have nothing but good things to say about them. Im really a technical tree riding type of guy and not a point up the hill and go type of guy. What do you guys think? Im 220lbs and ride very very aggressive. Also seems like the 600's dont have the issues the 800s do, am I wrong? Love to hear what people with some time on both sleds have to say.

The 600's are great but with your weight you will need the extra torque of the 800.

the dealer brought one out last year and i rode it for a bit great sled but you can notice the difference for sure
i'm your weight and simalar style (trees) and my 800 with a par head and more miles felt like the bigger brother it is
if you were lighter and a beginner then i'd say go for it. need more CCs son!

(but if you have a way older sled or a 600 is the only one you can afford then heck get one :face-icon-small-coo)
 
I rode both in the spring of 2012. Both great sleds but the 800 had just more left in it when things got iffy. The 13s were same weight but in the end I liked the extra the 800 had.
Weight 160 all suited up.
I have heard good things about the big bore kit for the 600. Something to look into, unless your getting a warranty.

How high in altitude do you ride? I had a 12 800 and last year traded for a 13 600 and I won't be letting the 600 go any time soon. Will it beat an 800 pro? Answer is no but it is close enough for me to be happy. I only ride in tight trees and weigh 250 so I'm heavier yet! I ride mostly togwotee and just love the powerband of the 6.
 
I have a 2013 pro 800 and had to rent a 2013 pro 600 last winter due to driveshaft breaking on my 800. I guess i was not impressed with the 600, yea it was alright for only being a 600.. but its no 800. Power difference was very noticeable IMO
 
I have a 6 and 8, ride at sea level, and the 8 has more...that being said the 6 went everywhere that my buddies on their 8's went. It's a blast of a sled.
 
I have a 2011 600 iq chassis and love the sled. I've rode a 600 pro and they do feel lighter in the trees but not a huge diff to me but they seem to turn easier & tighter in the powder.I also put a slp pipe & can and it really woke it up. no fuel management was needed on the 11 but I believe it is on the 12s & newer. It's amazing in the trees but that being said I ordered a new 800 RMK and not sure why except the 800s climb a little better & the ones I've ridden just have the awesome torque that the 600 don't.For now I'm keeping the 600 for when the wife goes and my grandson.Oh I'm about 200 geared up and almost 65 so none of this might apply to you younger guys.Well taken 600s are a little hard to find as guys seem to keep them in the family cause there great higher mileage sleds and just fun to ride!

I'm a treehugger, and I think that in between the trees, the 600 and 800 both have their advantages.

The 600 is just plain easier to drive, you dont spend to much time thinking about the throttle because it is glued to the handlebars most of the time.

The 800 is quicker to get on top of the snow, but sometimes if you're not careful with the throttle, the trees will come at you at the speed of light :)

Strictly for in between the trees driving, I would go for the 600, less money and just as fun
 
We've almost all addressed the "in the trees" however we havent clarified about just on flat ground in the trees or on the steep in the trees.....

Im assuming the 800 would be better for the steep tree'd boondocking because of the better torque and climbing ability?
 
my 2 cents...

I bought a 2013 ProRMK 600ES last season for my wife, but ended up riding it a bit, too. It is a blast in the trees, and I don't feel it gives up much to the 800 even with my 240 lbs on it. It climbs well, but on straight pulls, lacks the trackspeed of it's bigger brother. IMHO it is much more fun to ride then the 800, just takes a bit more effort to get out of tight spots.
That being said, for this season it has a Carl's Cycle 660 big bore - the additional power combined with the quick revving nature of the small block should be even more fun...and for the record my ride is an 1100 turbo, and we also have a 2013 M800 Ltd as a backup sled.

I'm 5'11, 190 lbs, semi good, semi aggressive rider. I rode a 2012 Pro 600 last season and absolutely loved it! I called it the little sled that could! It was just a ton of fun to ride and I was not disappointed in any way (other than blowing it up - yep it can happen to 600's too. It's just very rare so they tell me.) I didn't feel left out by anyone in our group although I am sure with a group of good aggressive riders I might have been. There were just times when I felt like the sled was giving all it could and if I had had just a little more power we'd have done much better so I snowchecked an 800 for this winter. Time will tell which one I like better. I passed the 600 down the line to my son who is only 5'7" and 140 lbs. We'll be putting some shorter bars on it for him.
 
If you ride at any real altitude you might find the 600 looses power. At lower elevation the 600 really rips. But gain 6000ft and you will notice a big difference. There's no replacement for displacement
