Dealer pulling one over on me?

Been all excited about picking this '16 axys up, until now. Just got this e-mail.

We did get you an approval on the sled, however the program Polaris is running on the sleds currently is a REBATE or FINANCING promo.....the price advertised included the REBATE they are offering, so there for the 0% promo is not valid.*

2016 Pro RMK 800 155 - $11,799.00 out the door at the 0% for 60 month promo
***** (PAYMENT OF $197.00 PER MONTH)

OR

2016 Pro RMK 800 155* - $10,799.00 out the door at the standard rate of 5.99% for 60 months.* (PAYMENT OF $209.00 PER MONTH)

Just grinds my gears because I did read all the fine print and seen nothing about this. Should I be looking for another dealer? This is my first time financing anything so, its all new to me.

Sorry if this is in the wrong section.

Nope that is pretty normal. Check your normal bank. Last sled I bought I got 3 percent. So in that case it might save you money to take the rebate and go with your bank.

Ahh. Didn't know you could do that with your personal bank.

Just talked with my friend who is in financing at a car dealer. Said this is normal. I just find it shady that the advertised price is a promo and there is absolutely no mention of it being so.

Yep even buying a vehicle it's either the rebate or special financing - not both.

Saw a local advertisement with a price (apparently including the 'rebate') and the current promotion from Polaris (0% for 60 months and 2yr warrantee), but ended up being what you said - you either get the rebate OR the financing but not both! False advertising if you ask me, grrrrrr! However, I seem to remember you could get 0% for 1 year with the rebate - but the rate would then be higher afterwards, so might be better to get financed with credit union from the start. Thinking of waiting to see if better incentives come along towards end of year or around Jan since several dealers seem to still have holdovers....

As stated above... They are not pulling one over on you.

In the past, you could get the rebate and then put it on the Polaris Star card and get 12 months at 0%. I bought my 12,14 and 16 that way. But, they did away with that card/program.

You could always wait and see what happens. I'm sure by jan 1st there will be new offers. Eric

I bought my 16 last year in January & got the full rebate plus 60 months at 0%. Oh & beat them up a little bit more on the price before pulling the trigger lol.

I was going to bring that up... There HAVE been times when they have offered both the rebate and financing... Last jan was one of them! Good buy.

Would that be something Polaris puts on nationwide or, promotions from an individual dealer? I assume Polaris puts it on but, you know what they say about assumption......

Being that I'm not traveling out west until January anyways, I'll probably just wait and see what happens. I'm not terribly worried about the '16 I'm looking at selling between now and then because its a mtn sled on the east cost.

Its not an individual dealer thing..... But it can be a regional deal. Many offers they run on mountain sleds only apply to the western dealers in the mountain region. Same thing goes for offers on trail sleds, those usually only apply to the mid-west and east coast dealers.

All current offers and details are always listed at polaris.com , just read the fine print and if offers can be combined. Eric

I believe last year you either got the rebate or a extended warranty. The 60 month financing was part of the deal no matter what. I bought the sled from a medium sized dealer in the U.P that had a lot of stock on hand with very little snow.

I read the fine print over a few times. All looked good. What I didn't know is, the advertised price is a promo. That really just took all the wind out my sail.

Another $1,000 over the coarse of 5 years isn't much at all but, that puts it $1,000 over kbb. It's very likely i'll total the sled this season and taking a hit for 1k right out of the gate stings a little. I understand they depreciate in value and all that stuff but, with my luck, sled would have under 50 miles and be totaled......its happened to me before.

Hope you had insurance !!

I appreciate all the information and advice fellas.

Since I'm not leaving until January anyways, think I should wait and see what deals come out then? What would you guys do?

Sounds normal. If you do the math 0% is the less costly option.

Not necessarily true. The 0% is only better if the loan is kept for the full term. Who will actually keep a sled loan for the full term? Not to mention if it is totaled, you are more likely to left where the insurance won't cover the payoff. I'd take the reduced price upfront, find a better loan thru my own bank, and pay it off early. That is if I was financing a sled, which is not very smart in the first place.

Maybe you should just buy like a 2001 Rmk800 or something. Save you money in the long run and it won't be too disappointing if you're planning on running your new sled into a tree or something the first day!

Just giving you a hard time.
Kinda depends what you're planning on doing with it in the long run as to what the best deal is.
Amortize out the loan at whatever rate you can get at the dealer or local bank. If you're selling it soon, you don't pay off much principal early in the term, mostly interest, so you could eat up the $1000 savings pretty quick in interest.
Either way, sleds are not usually economical ventures unless you buy right, don't beat the tar out of it and know the market to sell it right too.

get a quote. take it to the next dealer. tell them if they can beat it they might get your money. get a quote. take it to the first dealer tell them the same. dealers want to make as much cash off u as they can but in the end they will normally take something vs nothing that's just to much money for a leftover. got mine near the end of last year (assault) for 11,000 0% on the loan {dropped 9,000 down but they offered it for the whole loan} were offering me a pro for 10,300 or 10,500 cant remember just did not want one. they did get me for a feu extra bucks for extended warranty but I hade them toss in a shop manual. I did haggle 3 dealers to get the deal but saved some $$$$ just my 0.02
