Who has done one and how much of a differents did you notice? Was it worth the time and money and what track are you running?Thinking of changing track on my 07 to a 163. So I am looking for some imput before I start looking for a track. So it is a good idea to do the D&R with a ce track what about a 5.1 is there any benifit . Thanks

X2!:D

looking to go to a 155 CE from the stock 146.... brings around thoughts of the same questions asked above....

What year sled?
What track length do you currently have?
What track do you want to install and what length?
What kind of riding do you doo?
What area do you ride? snow style, etc.

i did a fastrax drop n roll on my 09 assault this fall. it was fairly involving but still pretty simple. the first time you do one it will take you some time but the directions are very good and curt is always ready to help a guy out. havent had a chance to run mine in the mountains yet with the big track so i cant comment on how it works yet. heard GREAT things about it tho.

have the ftx kit on both my dragons and would recommend it to everyone. great kit that comes with everything you need and good instructions. the brackets that come with the kit make it hard to mess it up.
here's a pic of my sled w/ 8 tooth 3.0 drivers and a powerclaw... tons of clearance!

can't read the tape thanks to the flash but there is just over 2" of clearance between the track and the tunnel coolers

this kit makes a HUGE improvement on how the sled climbs back up on top of the snow

curt didn't make the kit for track clearance it is for aproach angle. I put a camo extreme on my 09 dragon and the difference it makes is incredible. I did not do a drop and roll at all. If I do the drop and roll from ftx I am going to put a 3 in on mine with 9t drivers

what about a d&r on a dragon with the stock 5 series track? does it help enough to justify buying it? also think i will do a trim ans screw on the track which i hear makes a big difference. im not looking for clearance, just wondering if it will help in getting and staying on top of the powder

I did both the fastrax drop and roll and the camo extreme on my 08 D-8 163...one of the sleds I ride with is a heavily modded vertical escape,(slp race porting, head, slp twins, custom valved shocks ect.ect.) before i did the drop and roll these sleds were pretty much dead even in all conditions...both running the stock track the sleds came with...he installed the 3.0 pitch 2.5 extreme, no drop and roll just 7 tooth drivers, i did the drop and roll with stock drivers and the 2.86 pitch 2.5 extreme, once again both sleds pretty much identical in all riding conditions..until we hit our first deep day...3ft. of freshies, his was a trenching fool(and this sled used to rock on deep days) , mine on the other hand, creep anywhere, jump right up on the snow and go...we both decided after much discussion and swapping back and forth that this was a direct result of the better tunnel clearence of the drop and roll..it evaculated snow thru the tunnel much better allowing the sled to get on top much easier...in 2 ft. of snow..not noticable..but it was in 3 ft...so yes the drop and roll is a good install..but only if you live to ride the super deep days..thats where it shines....

i beg to differ... the clearance that i needed is one of the main reasons curt talked me into this kit. yes it helps the approach angle but the extra clearance allows for better track/driver combos

I'm not going to argue about it, just saying what he told me face to face. we had a conversation about needing a drop and roll for a camo extreme and he told me that he didn't do it for clearance but for the aproach angle. But since you are running a turbo and different kind of snow then we have here I would see why we had 2 different conversations

07 dragon looking hard at a 777 kit from slp,I want to run a 163 either a CE or a 5.1 poo track I already have avid drivers so not looking at a PC track.Living in Northern Idaho hard to say type of snow.I have already did the F bomb track mod but want to go to a 163.Riding vareris with who I ride with but mostly play in clear cuts and tree riding, alot of skid trails and ungroomed trails.I would like the dragon to get up on the snow better I am a bigger guy and need all the help I can get.Why did holtz quit making a D&R kit? When you do ftx D&R kit do you have to move the skid back?

yes to the skid move..it does handle great with the set back, also stiffens the rear skid slightly due to the way the rear arms get moved..which helps with the excessive sag...

I've done it but doubt I'd do it again. It's a lot of work for the results. IMO I'd just put a CE or Power Claw on it and call it good. It's a well thought out and put together kit though.

What did you not like about it INDEEP? How long does it take to install and how much of the sled has to come apart. After ridding yesterday I am rethinking my track length we very seldom get any good powder here so I will probable stay with the 155.I did notice a vast improvement when I cut my track and added screws but I do not think the stock track grabs enough snow.So I am thinking of going with a CE with a D&R .

I did a CE at the same time so it's really tuff for me to tell the improvement. Like I said lots of work for the results. I worked on it when I had the time and I'm guessing it took me 10 to 11 hours. Basically you pull everything but the motor, front end, and some plastic.

Did you put a 163 back on ? How do you like the CE over the oem track?Did you do the d&r for clearance or for the approach angle?Do you have to pull the belly pan? Thanks
