cylinder honning???

ONLY use a diamond finish hone. Never hone a new cylinder. Most current Jap engines are only about .002" thick on the nikisil coating. Be extremly carfull and light with your honeing. If your trying to remove material because of deep scoring, forget it. Send it out and have replated. If your just touching up for new top end, as said use only a diamond hone very lightly and clean, wash, clean, wash, clean ,wash one more time, clean, wash thoroughly!!!!

Get a ball hone. One with lots of little balls on the ends of the wires. Run lots of varsol thru the cylinders and run the hone in and out with a cordless drill. Rinse the cyl out with varsol and when you're happy with the cleanliness, run the hone through a couple more times, then just in and out one more time to give it a decent crosshatch. Done this 20+ times, always worked well. Don't be shy on the varsol. It helps clean it and also lubes the hone.
