Cutler Stage II vs Boondocker Race Gas

I'm wondering if anyone would have enough experience to tell me the advantages/disadvantages of these two systems. It appears to me that the cutler stage II does not run 4 injectors where as the Boondocker race gas does. Is the boondocker a superior system because of this or does the cutler make up for it in other ways??? Thanks for the input.

Cutler makes up for the 2 injectors with fuel pressure, putting out more fuel with just 2.

Simpler tuning, reliable system, but a little more limited in boost. The stage 3 is more like a full RG Setup & cost is more on line with BD's pricing.

That said, I've run as much as 14.5 psi on the stage II... can't imagine needing more power than what that produces.

The Proclimb stage 2 does come with extra injectors.

Why are comparing a RG kit to a non-RG kit? The CPC stage 3 is a true RG kit.

Because I have the stage 2 which I have never used yet, (waiting for snow) and my son has a boondocker race gas. So the trash talking has already begun. I just didnt want to be talkin too much smack if I wasnt going to be able to back it up...:face-icon-small-win

Would you be willing to share your gas/race gas ratio and attitude box setting for 12 to 14 psi???

Dont worrie Main jet, I'm sure that the stage II injectors put out as much fuel as the FOUR boondocker injectors. In fact I think I read somewhere that the extra injectors on the boondocker set up were just for looks.

cutler stage 2 runs 4 injectors, look for yourself. only difference between the stage 2 and 3 is the stage 3 comes with a water to air intercooler. :face-icon-small-win

cutler stage 2

the stage 2 has 2 injectors for m series and 4 for new chasis. i also have stage 2 on m chasis and love it. run 6 to 10 psi and it has been totaly pull and go.

So it sounds like the Cutler is Pull n GO and from what I've seen and read the Boondocker is more of a GO n Pull... Pull it back to the truck that is:face-icon-small-ton

Just ask herman... I'm sure he's got the setup for you:face-icon-small-win

Wish I could say it was nice to see him back... but oh well.

Sled isn't here right now, so don't have the box setup, but it's only a number or two off the cutler setup, and I believe I only changed the red & boost numbers, didn't mess with green & yellow.

As for fuel, I'm very high altitude, 10k+, so this might not be ideal for you, but I run 25% 112, or 50% av. If I know I'm going to be pushing it on boost, I increase to about 35% 112 or 60% av. at the 25/50 range I hit det at about 13. increasing it I run up to that 14.5 mark, but adding more doesn't seem to get me any farther, as I'm pretty sure I'm running out of fuel then. Keep in mind Dale says this kit is only supposed to be able to run enough fuel for 10PSI... but that all depends on what altitude you're at.

If you tune it right for that 12-12.5 range... it'll be consistent, and run more power than most will ever need. It's fun to push the limit here & there, but I really like the range just under 13.

Honestly, the newer kits seem to do much better. I never ran an 07 cutler kit so i can't compare to the older BD kits, but BD came a LONG ways between 07-08 & 09-12 I feel like they're all pretty reliable now. I used to hate BD because I was dealing with buddy's sleds that sucked, but now they're much better IMO. Some great products out there on the market now!

im not saying boondocker is not reliable, i just know of several cutler kits with ablsolutely no issues and a few bd kits with issues. i do believe a good install and set up would probably eliminate most turbo issues. i wonder how many bd kits there are compared to other brands, if there are more bd kits this could explain more bd problems

Can't believe I'm defending BD, but they had a lot more 07 & 08 kits out there than the other guys, and at that point they were just so so IMO... seems like in 09 they got them pretty dialed. (still some issues because of their electronics, then 2010 got even better)

I try to compare apples to apples as much as I like to talk smack about BD, and if you've got buddies with 07 BD kits & 2010 Cutler kits... that's not really fair. They do have more kits out there too, but that's no excuse... on the other hand who did the install is.

Look at Beyatts... some minor mistakes on his stage II kit that he admits to caused him some issues on his 12 cutler, had Cutler done the install that would likely not have been a problem... same goes for BD. Hard to control quality when someone is installing a pretty complex system in their garage (not meant to be a cut on beyatts at all btw, it's easy to be good at something when you do a bunch of them!)

I have personally called both tech support with their products

boonie got my name and number and called 3 days later, Cutler spent 1.5 hours on the phone with me helping me out and were happy to do it. it was like pulling teeth getting tech support from boonie. to me that is worth a lot.
