I'm having a little issue with my 07 5.9 Cummins w/60,000 miles.
No Warranty and No codes coming up.
Problen is, at a low idle particularly when I first start it up. The truck surges from 750rpm until it is idled up to 1600-1800rpms and will blow a slight puff of white smoke when I first accelerate. The truck has a Bullydog Intake, 4" Stainless turbo back exhaust and Bullydog triple dog downloader. The downloader is uninstalled and the truck was in the dealership today to have the ECM updated to the newest calibration. The truck still surges but only at startup then it goes away. I thought the white smoke could've been coolant but the coolant level in the reservoir hasn't lowered at all. The fuel filter gets replaced every oil change and stanadyne additive used. I'm not thinking it is the injection pump as it isn't a continuous problem. I'm going to take it in soon to have a pressure test done to the injection system to see if I have a leaky injector or if there is a chance there is air in the fuel supply but would that cause it to smoke white? The injectors have never been touched so I'm sure the protrusion is correct and the hold downs are tight as the problem just flared up. It isn't knocking (or making any unusual sounds) or burning oil and the oil pressure is normal. I was convinced it was a mapping issue or ECM calibration issue which is not the case. The truck is a daily driver with no off-road use.
Any ideas guys?
