Cumbres Suggestions/Maps/Tracks

I'm heading to Cumbres on Saturday - first time riding there. I'll have my wife with me (intermediate rider) and a newb on his 2nd ride ever.

Can anyone offer some local insightor general directions on where to go/not go? None of us want to be digging out all day, especially me!

I'd love a couple .gpx's or maps if anyone wants to share.

best thing to do is to look at "google earth" and get a good idea what is what there.. you almost have to learn the terrain by just doing it.. have fun and be safe..

Yeah, spent plenty of time on Google earth. Though very valuable, does not even come close to telling you everything you need to know.

From the big (kind of) parkign lot on the E side of the rd, just S of the restaurant/rental shop, head down intothe valley and follow it S/E, with all the other tracks for a few miles. You'll lose all the traffic inside of 5 mi and just continue mostly S/E back into NM. Endless untouched meadows, no big hills to deal with. It's pretty awesome down there.
There's also a big area to teh W of the hwy as well, but I don't know that side as well.
