Crankshaft bearing regrease?

I thought I heard something once about there being some crank bearings that have to be regreased. Is this true? What kind of grease do you use? I have an 03 MXZX rev with about 3500 miles on it should I be regreasing mine?

Yes the pto bearings run Isoflex grease. I have a 02, about 5000 miles??? no speedo. I replaced the bearings this year. The outer bearing on the pto was dry, the inside bearing had just a small amount of grease left in it. Dino

You might want to check your crank run out while your at it and possibly have your crank trued at the same time.

you can buy iso-flex at a supplier now for less than 1/2 the cost at the doo dealer, check the last issue of Snow Tech, they had a little article on it

cranks

since 2002 all skidoo motors have been leaned out to support epa............i was told at 3000 miles we need to regrease cranks........and at 3100 miles my 03 800ho blew up..............i put a new short block in it..........at 2500 miles i will regrease it

PTO side has a 1/4" 90 degree barb fitting that comes out of the case and just has a rubber cap on it. When I had mine apart, I checked and that line does run in between the bearing surfaces on the inside of the case. The fitting is just behind the torque bumper if I remember. Does anyone know if you can grease your crank through it? I was thinking when it was time, to just fill a seringe with a fuel line on it and push a small amount of grease in. Will it work? Thanks!

So there is supose to be grease in the ones on the mag side? Mine has grease in the pto side but pretty dry in the mag side.
My 02 800 is oiled on the mag side and middle bearings, grease on the two bearings on the pto end. Got close to 20 hard rides on it since replaceing the bearings. Dino

I was curious about the same issue on my 670 so I pulled up the parts fiche on www.hlsm.com world of powersports and

The 2003 Doo 800 HO fiche specs isoflex on the two pto bearings AND the two mag bearings.

The 670x HO does not show that requirement and I heard those bearings get oiled from the injector oil. Don't know how, but maybe someone here can verify.

On my 02 800 the mag side bearings showed no evidence of isoflex, and was covered in injector oil. The pto bearings had some grease left on them. So thats how I reasembled the engine...I would think that if the mag side bearings needed grease that by now they would be toast????Hope this helps Dino
