Cost of living effects?

bama might save the day.tax the crap out of the riches so the price of eveything zooms way higher than it is now.

NO...............
We are so far in dept as both a society and a nation that there is no getting out of dept....kind of like making 20 grand a year at your job and having 100 grand in credit card dept, plus all your normal bills..no way no how you can ever pay it back without making more income.........and the way things are going...there is no middle class anymore..theres us poor folk..the rich, and the really stupid rich...the middle class was taxed into poorness..and our world wont run without a strong middle class..........oh..and the only way we have ever gotten out of financial disaster before...WAR........thats it..........

to say its impossible isn't true. But it is going to take a lot of belt tightening, and fiscal responsibility on everyone's part. It is like buying a 300K house on a 100k a year salary. Not only that but we need to get a budget that is BALANCED which means yes we will lose jobs because the Gov't can't afford to pay for many of these defense contracts.

True..but we are to the point of borrowing money just to pay the interest on what we have already borrowed....thats pretty much the end all of getting yourself out..could we? yep...stop giving anything to anyone.....weather over seas or at home... come up with a new financial manegment package and way of doing business..See way way to much greed when it comes to goverment contracts...get rid of most every law in the books and start over..do away with 70% of goverment(both local and federal) and throw everyone out of this country that isnt a legal resident..you want to come and work/live here? fine..you pay more tax then residents do, no freebies for anyone from the goverment..we feed you/house/you medically attend to you..you work for it...(day care/ trash pickup/ sweeping whatever needs done and you get tested for drugs/alcohol...you fail..no help...........and a tax system that makes everyone pay a fair share.......

yeah tax code sucks. but if we change it then we get rid of all the people whose job it is to do taxes. Oh noooo that must mean its bad for the economy!

Actually a person making 100K per year can easily afford a 300K house. To be able to buy a 300K house a person traditionally would need 20% down leaving a morgage loan of 240K. A 30 year fixed at 4% would require monthly payments of 1145. Most banks will qualify a person if the monthly morgage is less than 20% of their monthly income. At 100k monthly income would be $8333 which would place a monthly morgage of $1145 at 14% of income.

It is all pretty out of control right now. Honestly my only option was to get into the oil field. Luckily I am young and single. I have college debt and if I were using my degree I would be making half of what I am making right now. I still consider myself living paycheck to paycheck. I cannot imagine where I would be without the Bakken. I am lucky enough to work for a company that will be here after the oil, so I have no worry about tomorrow. There are ways to make things work out, especially if you are near this part of the country. I see a lot of men that work for me struggle with their sacrifices to make things work for their families. It's tough, but I guess that's what we have to do...

middle class is more difficult these days. families used to get by very well with just the male working, dont see that too much these days, and if it is, they arent living the high life for the most part. im single and make a decent wage, but dang gas is crazy, food is crazy. i spent $200 on gas deer hunting this last weekend. most people arent getting wage increases to compensate for the increase in cost of living so MOST people are actually falling behind with their purchasing power. i think most will continue to feel the pinch as expenses will continue to increase faster than wage increases.

The only debt i have is the morgage 900 a month, truck 490, and a home improvement loan which is 100 bucks a month. Now my old truck i bought it with most the stuff done to it or bought the parts for it used off ebay, new truck was bought 3 years old only had it a year. My sled was a wrecked one that i fixed up by buying parts off of snowest over a year and half. My camper is 24' 5th wheel that is 12 years old that i bought off of a co worker 4 years ago for 10000 it booked for 14000 at the time. I use it for work when im on the road and for a little family fun. So i have never had anything brand new or bought a dealer floor brand new, except we bought our house in 07 with an 1.53 acres for 162000. I make 50-60k sometimes more and the wife makes about 40k. The only i really drive my truck is when i need a truck so eithor the box is loaded or there is a trailer hooked to it. I went with a diesel this time for engine longtivity with better fuel mileage while towing since 95 percent of the time im towing or hauling with it. I guess im going to have to win the lottery to become rich so i don't have to as many taxes and then can afford do what a person needs to do to financly better them selves. Any tips on making home more energy efficient?
