Nelson, your understanding of economics and the assumed plight of young people is fascinating. Boomers had it easy and earned free wealth. Tell me how. They were the first generation of 2 income families. They made an investment in property, paid taxes and sometimes 18% interest on it. They invested in the stock market and in their education. Many of them worked overtime and if they wanted something done they did it themselves.

As for the youngsters or should I call them babies because that’s what many of them are. Why should we care about their worries of buying a house or investing in the pyramid schemes of crypto currency. They are the most dependent generation but what do they depend on? A **** college degree in some worthless degree program that they borrowed $150k to get that will pay back barely more than minimum wage. Then because of the place they put themselves in and 5 years of their life cause they couldn’t work hard enough to get it done in 4. They are counting on government foregoing their loan. And who is government? It’s the 50% of the American public that actually pays federal income tax.

The babies are so dependent on their brand new iPhone that they lease a new one every year. So they can spend their time connecting on FB , Instagram Snapchat and tiktok. That they can’t seam to get to work on time or put it down to actually do their job. 40 hour week. Whats that? 30 hours is asking too much. Overtime, probably don’t even know what that is. For those that don’t it’s the hours over 40 you work in a week and get paid 1.5 times your regular hourly wage for.

Skin in the game? No way. They won’t sweat, get hot, cold, wet, dirty or tired.Leave those things for someone else. College taught me I’m better than that. If they do think about bettering themselves it’s at someone else’s expense. Think all the woke b.s. they spread. All about taking what someone else earned. By blaming, shaming and just plain ignorance. All learned in the class that everyone is equal, games have no score. Classes have no grades. Teachers have no expectations and somehow it’s all easy and owed to you. I pity you. Actually I don’t. You don’t deserve the pity.

What I

Absolutely nailed it.
That's millennials to a T.
Now there are exceptions, but you just described over 90% of them.

We have a handful of these "babies" on Snowest.

Lol it just got all super boomer in here.

Those people you are ranting about are just "liberal" kids. The grumpy old man on the internet rant is hilarious. Nice job sideline.

Whoa did they include that rant in the uninformed boomer welcome package alongside the Harley and goatee? Cause that was textbook! Kids these days:
- don’t work hard (millennials aren’t that young anymore and actually work more hours that all other modern gens - look it up, don’t take my word for it)
- wasted their time and money on post secondary (older gens pushed for more education, and came up with the hiring system that won’t hire you without it...you think kids WANT to go to school for 5 years and come out with a half assed job?
- took the wrong thing in school (all jobs need filling and, again, you guys designed the system, we just believed you...oops)
- make stupid investments (guaranteed or even stable investments with decent returns don’t exist anymore...even uglier if you correct returns for inflation and housing)
- young people buying a house is either stupid (which it wasn’t for you), or as easy as ever (which it isn’t)...depending on which part of the rant we read
- on that last note - housing has gone up 10x+ since the 80’s, and wages (have not). So, no, it’s not the same. And it might be stupid for a young person to buy in right now...and that’s just, sad?
- dual incomes used to afford luxuries - now they are necessary to afford housing
- disclaimer - I am an older millennial and not counting myself in much of this; my life is great.
- I never said you didn’t work hard - just that building wealth from scratch was much easier, as the real estate costs weren’t nearly such a barrier to entry. And hence paying off your mortgage quickly was actually a realistic expectation.

literally just grumpy old dudes ranting about “kids these days”...just like your parents about your Gen lol

Wow, that’s some really good blaming, shaming and just plain ignorance.

Well let’s talk some real examples from The West. If you bought a 1500-1800 sq ft house 2-5 years ago you paid about $225000-$275000. Same house today around $425000. That’s investing and making money isn’t it. You also paid 4.5% interest. Now it’s around 3.25%

If you bought Apple 5 years ago it was $51 per share. Now it’s $123
Google was at $1000 and is now $2300
Nike $70 and now $133. Not to hard to pick one of these stocks and make money was it. This a small broad example

Working lots of hours and not accomplishing much. That’s how I see it. Used to be you had a morning pre construction meeting then went out and did it. Now you sit Meeting after meeting talking about disruptions, traffic, easements, right of ways, erosion, environmental impacts....

As for college we told you to get a law degree, business degree, doctorate degree. Engineering degree, accounting degree.... but when they got to hard you maybe finished with anthropology, history, art, music, sociology or philosophy degree. And who gets blamed for your choice?

So as I see it your arguments are nothing more than that
