The mask thing is in place in at least some extent in most/all developed countries in the world; the only difference in the US is the amount of whining. And all the ongoing arguments to justify the whining. The masks were always just one tool of many; never the end-all. And if one’s head isn’t full of conspiracy garbage, it makes complete sense to see regs winding back as vaccinations and antibodies have reached a substantial portion of the population.
Interestingly, some of the only countries who skipped a mask “rule” are ones where the public chooses to wear them, or where the initial restrictions were strict enough to curb covid almost entirely. Go figure

These guys don't care about the world. They have no problems or solutions...just a boring existence living paycheck to paycheck and a prayer that nothing ever serious happens to their health because they would go broke with the medical bills.

I guess if potentially killing even more people is a non-issue then, yes. Again the countries doing the best are actually the ones who enacted MUCH harsher restrictions up front; which USA would have abhorred anyways.
That said, most businesses and occupations I know right now are absolutely killing it. The only place I see the economy struggling - outside of very specific sectors - is the news. Crap luck in the travel biz unfortunately.
Most people with assets and a lick of sense and/or luck are notably wealthier than a year ago. The more stuff you had (investments, real estate, most businesses, vehicles, etc), the better you did. You boomers got even more free wealth to hoard, so you guys can pipe right down whining about the economy. The only ones allowed to whine are the sub-30 year olds with limited assets trying to buy a $500k starter home on 1980’s/1990’s boomer wages. They got the shaft for the time being.
