I had a Mormon girlfriend once......

She was from a die hard mormon family with many generations in the mormon church

after highschool she went to BYU and got married in the temple like a good little mormon girl and now I suppose she has 300 kids and her husband is on his way to being exhaulted.

My question, did going out with me ruin anything about her afterlife?

Will this come to light in her final judgement and do her harm?
Ya.... you wrecked her!!!

or even worse you may reside in a state called outer darkness and be known as "Sons of Perdition".

I am not Sick, but I will take a stab at it. What you are seeking externally, you should be seeking internally.-well it's debateable if your sick;)....but I am seeking nothing externally, my relationship is internal and it may show to the outside.

To be a true believer dictates that you must obey the word of that religion you feel is right for you. I feel there is no middle ground.- but what of people like myself who do not proclaim the reigion in the sense that most of the world views it? Also why do you think there can not be a 2 way relationship with God? I view it very much as a 2 way street. God is willing to walk with me, but he will let me run if I choose. It very much is like a father and son relationship.

The angel gave Joseph Smith special glasses so he could decipher the golden tablets-according to the posted South Park it was stones....yeah I watched it and I laughed(but I luagh at the scientology one and the Battle of Heaven vs Hell too, I laugh at eveything, even myself).

So new Mormon question. You say yes you believe Jesus was Gods son, etc. But you say that you must do good acts, etc to ensure a place in heaven? Is that correct....it's been a long day(3 hrs sleep in 30)? The christianity that I know preaches that anyone(even the thief on the cross) will enjoy eternity in heaven(which is still freaking me out, kinda scared about the whole deal) so long as they accept and profess that Jesus is their personal savior who died for their sins. No mention that you have to be A number 1 super doper neighbor guy, etc. You can still have slip ups and transgressions, a short fuse on things, etc. Hope that made sense, like I said I am freaking tired.

X.... my problem isn't travelling the 2 way street or the father son relationship.... My problem is with the group that put up the no running sign, the group that tells you that you are doing it wrong and rats you out, and the group that penalizes you for running.

Ultimatley..... religion is a governed organization with everybody willing to impose their ideals and interpretations on you because they feel you have it wrong.

A- yes they were stones not really glasses. Thats why squareheads source for mormon doctrine is laughable to me.

B-Honestly x, I served a mission for my church for 2 years and this is where the protestant christian sects and mormans bashed heads.. And the more I study it the more I see that the beliefs are very close but still has some fundamental differences.. There was a thread a while back where this was discussed and I just am not so amazing with words Id rather have someone that is, explain it.

This is one the best explination besides scripture that i have found over the internet.. There are books and such i have read that do as good of a job but i dont want to type them word for word. haha. anyway it is a very long thought out explination of how the mormon views faith and grace and works..
You dont need to read it all but you can scan it and you will get the jist of how we view the sacrifice of Christ and him as our savior.
