Cool new goggle technology

I worked on a virtual reality heads up display project years ago. It got scraped because it was to strenous for people to focus on a heads up display that close. I think the fighter pilots mostly have heads up display on a screen in front of them so they can focus through the display to the outside. It will be interesting to see how many people were reading their GPS coordinates when they hit that tree.

The HUD (Head Up Display) in a military jet is focused at infinity....meaning, your eyes are focus'd out to the horizon (virutally infinity) and there's no extra focussing needed to view the HUD information. You in fact look right through it to see the terrain, kind of like an overlay. Very easy to use, ONCE you get used to it. :)

530 cdn i think i'll be gettin a pair later this winter. imagine the possibilites of this goggle to be applied to sledding? have wireless tech so that boost, rpm, airfuel ratio can be read heads up that way when riding a turbo sled doing 80mph u don;t have to worry about looking down.

Trax 2 Treadz is actually going to be bringing some of these goggles in. We hope to have them for the SSA show. They are only making a limited number this year. They are actually in production right now. If you are interested shoot me a pm and we will put you on our list.

I can't wait to hear of someone trying to focus on the heads up display and loose vision/concentration on where they are going...like over a cliff, into a nice tree well, another sled, etc, etc. Just like texting and driving....should make some great Ooops pictures!

We were actually able to get our hands on a demo pair of these for the SSA sled show this past weekend. Let me tell you those things rocked the house!!! I had young men squeeling like little girls over them!! They are still 2 weeks out on production and they are only making a limited quantity this year but we have managed to get some in stock.

can't wait for mine to show up! how does the display look??? hopefully they can get them out quick... sledding season is upon us in 2 weeks!!

The display is in the lower right hand side of the goggle. You have different screens you can scroll through. I found it very easy on the eyes and clear to read.

where you able to get me on the list for a pair of these babies?

post a delivery date if you could... would give me an idea as well if they have started shipping... i was order number 100

I just got off the phone with Recon and they told me the goggles should be shipping within the next couple of weeks. He wouldn't give me an exact date but if I do hear one I'll be sure to post it!

We took the goggles with us on our weekend trip to Calgary and set them up to log on our trip home. The lat and long were out a few degrees when compared to the truck GPS, but the truck GPS also had us off roading and never actually on the 22X for most of the way. As you can see in the screen shot, the Recon goggles actually tracked very well, down to us actually driving the speed limit on the number 1 highway.

I thought this next screen shot was pretty cool as well. As you can see in the screen shot, I had turned the goggles on in the house and wandered around with them on, while getting them figured out. I know from previous experience that at least one of my Garmin GPS's will not work in the house and neither will our SPOT as they need a clear view of the sky to pick up the sat's.

The screen shot's are of Recon's HQ software that you can use to down load all of your data and play it back on your computer.
