Three of us are planning a trip mid February. In the last six years we have been to Togwotee once, Island Park once, the Bighorns six times, and Cooke City six times. We have it down to Cooke City or Island Park. Where would you go and why? Bashing discouraged. Humor encouraged.:face-icon-small-ton:wine:

Island Park, lots of different terrain boondocking in the trees good riding in any direction. I'll be there Feb. 4-10th. PM me 4 more.:high5:

Heads Up.

Check the avalanche conditions at Cooke.
If they are ugly, then head to IP.
That's really a good point and it has been on my mind. We were in Cooke December 31st when two people died in an avalanche. So sad.
WE ARE A LOT MORE AWARE OF THE DANGERS WHEN RIDING IN THE MOUNTAINS NOW!
I will say that all the safety equipment in the world can't replace being educated on the dangers of riding in the mountains! Or riding anywhere for that matter.
Fail to plan. Plan to fail.:light:

Depends on your riding style. Climbing, Cooke. Boondocking, IP. Either way IP, offers a much larger riding area.

We did decide on IP mainly because of the larger riding area. Really looking forward (with caution) on learning the area better. I will post a new thread about a week before we go on snow/riding conditions. Cooke is 1000 miles. IP is 1200 miles. So it is important for us to know before we go.
Is it just me or does this winter suck? :face-icon-small-sad
