Congrats Ski Doo on Deep Powder Challange

Congratulations to Ski Doo. Secondly I consider myself non bias and currently ride Polaris. After reading the deep snow shoot out all I can say is, " it is what it is ". The truth is in the testing. I do however have a couple of unanswered questions. First I thought the sleds were to be tested as supplied by the manufacture. The article says the sleds were inspected to make sure they were. Did Mountain Magic Sports out of Preston Idaho FORGET to tell Snow West they had reversed the tracks on the Arctic Cat sleds at the time of testing. I can't imagine they did the switch in no other attempt than to increase their performance. Were there any other modifications allowed ? Funny thing, I was reading a new thread today and the person posing the message indicated if the track was left as delivered, the Arctic Cat line would have fared much better. Unfortunately since Mountain Magic Sports made the switcheroo nobody can say for sure at this time. I like the idea of seeing is believing and until there is another back to back test with the four major brands under the same snow conditions I can only see the track issue as just an Arctic Cat excuse. Once again congratulations Ski Doo on your great accomplishment.

The funny thing is "WE" DOO guys arent jumping all over the the other guys chit...YOU KNOW THEY WOULD IN A NEW YORK SECOND if the XP lost to anyone of them...

Sometimes I wonder....give them both barrels....DOO won hands down in the deep powder challenge this year...

As for mods???...the dealer can "prep" the sleds as he sees fit...BJ

And weren't the results identical to what Doo showed in their corny promotional video last fall?? That everyone called BS on?
I was actually surprised the Doo did good considering their factory clutching is so bad, they must have at least changed that. ??

I work at a dealer and we haven't had that many come in with clutching problems.

ZTMP99 I can only assume a few things that either you are a doo dealer in a Dessert with no snow, you guys did not sell any xps this year or your dealship sucks so bad no one will bring a sled to you for service...

I am a doo fan and own an XP but lets be real they are what they are a great sled once dialed in. I rode a 7 belt eating machine for 200miles. Finally got a jackshaft, team clutch, priamry set up, gear down and 500 miles of duct tape throttle riding later, no problems.

But to say you work at a doo dealer and have few clutching problems, come on

Deep Snow

Come on Yukondood, give the guy a break. I can't hardly believe he is on here with the intent to just lie. I have personally heard mixed results. Some have had no problems and others like yourself have had a heck of a time getting them set up. Just luck of the draw. I am still curious though as to how much the dealers were allowed to do to the STOCK sleds prior to testing ?

No significant clutching problems on the 08 XP 154 X I've ridden this year. Went through 3 belts in 800 miles, then geared down, changed primary spring, checked alignment, and went to new belt. Ran a bit better with no further belt problems, but was not night and day difference.

Couple of other guys I know with same sleds have not had any significant problems (clutching or otherwise).

I think the problems out there are maybe not as widespread as some might believe. On a forum like this, it may be that those with problems are more likely to post than those without...

Rev xp is a winner.

Have ridden for over 25 years including x motocross hardcore. Rode Polaris mods until rev chassis. Have modded all. The Polaris motor puts out good hp but it is still in an outdated chassis compared to the xp. My third rev and the xp is definitely a winner.

I have no doubt of the results in any way. Now if one gets this motor to the 170 hp level it will be plenty for this 46 year old.

Others must change chassis for a competitive weight. Doo did their homework on all weight fronts on all pieces. Heck I even rode a 1984 phazer with teflon angle paddles that weight this much with about 70 hp if I remember.

Oh, I still have my 02 700rmk with a doo 162*154 track and crankshop twins. The boy rides it and does very well on it. I will say the Polaris 700 motor puts out a lot of power. Doo could learn a bit in the power department IMO.

Happy sleddin to all.

I work at a dealer in Gramby, Colorado, close to many of the bigger riding areas in Co. Normaly I only see XP's for minor problems no so much faulty parts. but we've only had 1 or 2 clutch issues come in, most big ones are the ones who hit the trees. like suicideking said luck of the draw and i guess we just got a good bunch this year, i wish i could say the same for 07.

Thanks suicideking:D

We did not have any clutch "problems" with our 2 bone stock XP's this year. I felt they worked just fine, but I am sure could have been better with some work. Have had a clutch kit from DJ sitting in my garage for months and it been hard for me to find the garage time to tinker in between rides this year and did not get it in. I can say that I could tell my clutch was not working properly last year after my first time out on my 07' XRS. I feel they made a definite improvement over last years model. I look forward to learning more and more about how these clutch setups work. Still very new at this.....

In the informal racing we have done this year, a "stock" XP is a good 5-6 sled lengths behind a properly clutched XP in a 1/8 mile run....and ALOT lower on the hill. Either the dealer in the shootout did their homework or the other sleds were that bad.
