Conditions E-mail on Togwotee Pass

Just returned from Togwotee, we were out there all last week. We had Nate as our guide, and he rocked. Showed us some great spots every day, 5 different days, 5 different areas. Pushed us to new levels day after day, and we all enjoyed it. Our stay at Tog was awesome, from the food, to the service to the guide. Hope to return again next year.:beer;

the people who brought togwotee to the top,are the 4 horseman,and
the legends guides of the past,thats why people come back,not managers at lodge,period-as for money and structure large corps.-pay their top more/
managers,spend little money on whats needed,and raise prices to us,
bob was legend,top 5 horseman of all time,many rides w/them all-countless
change can not be changed,nor can us common people do anything
TML will continue to change till we are all gone,15 yrs of riding w/legends
remember the good times,for these times they are ah changin

I think I know three... Bob, Jerry, Lance.

Jealous as *&^^% that I've only been able to know Bob for three years. Glad you have known them for 15.

I will ride the Wind River Mountains with Bob Record again. I promise you that.

their expertise,only one left,the main horseman/1st five mentioned
best expert backcountry tecknical/finess mountain riders period/anywhere
thats why the place was packed every nite-----ttt,bob record taught me
how to ride after i been ridin for 5 yr-brought me to the mountain top,
of ridin,totally burandt material

rmk,

Sleddingfarmer,

"Secret spots"...... Isn't that one of the main reasons that we go with the seasoned guides?? I think those guys keep a lot of that information to themselves. I'll be honest, I have no idea how much the "new guys" know about the really good spots, but I've been out there for the past three years, a week each year, and have never had to worry about seeing the same thing twice ( other that a cute bartender or two ) and never had to be the 2nd one in to a play area with Bob. Some of those drop-ins and climb-outs will make your @#$%! pucker, but isn't that why we do this???

TML fired a great asset to their lodge. Was Bob perfect???? I'm not, I won't judge. I know more than I'll share on the 4m, but holding someone accountable for their actions should be rewarded, not punished. All I know is that he helped make every day that I rode with him burn permanently into my memory.

Off my soapbox now....

Well in all fairness to Jeff, he said this was only his 3rd yr of guiding so he hasnt had quite the exposure that say bob or carter have. I did recognized a few areas he dropped us into from riding w/carter however he dropped us in and out different ways than before. Only secret spots I ever knew was Carter told us in a few spots that only him and one other guy(maybe bob ID remember) knew how to drop into and they would always swap it off after new snows...I think your right tho, im sure they know more than they sometimes lead on to...

Rode w/Nate for a few days last yr... Pretty nice guy and good guide. Did he happen to tell you what he does outside of guiding? He had been working construciton up in Alaska prior to last season, but was looking to get into helicopter flying and was looking at training options... I talked to him briefly this yr but forgot to ask him how he ever made out w/all that...

Ahhhh, the Zen. Think about it everytime I pull the ripcord. He dropped that one on us after about two minutes into meeting us on our first trip. It was the first thing he said to me after I pointed out that my rental M8 was leaking antifreeze.

Bob, "Hi my name's Bob and I'll be your guide."

Me, "Hi Bob, I'm Scott, my sled is leaking antifreeze."

Bob, "IT'S AN ARCTIC CAT, IT BLEEDS GREEN!!!"

Shortly followed by how brain, track and thumb must work as one.

He was not kidding. That's what it's all about. I'm pretty sure I have about 50 more Bob-isms floating through my brain, but that one is the truth. Make your plan, and always be willing to adapt and change it.

I'm enjoying all of the posts regarding how Bob has made a difference in our lives. We are all in this together. Thanks SW.

Firecatguy, have a blast out there this weekend. Post lots of those ring-dinger videos and photos. :beer;:):beer;:):beer;

Dosey Wales, I'm curious who you are and appreciate your input. I met Jerry last summer and didn't realize who he was until the end of the night. I was enjoying his music and guitar playing and all of a sudden realized who he was. Met his boy Skinner this last year, good group of people. Thanks again.:cool:

Nate told us he is a brick layer, and I think he said he had a small job to finish up down in Dubois, then he was heading to his parents for a few weeks, then on to the next job, just wasn't sure where that was going to be.
