Comparing 'old' Poo twins vs. new IQ-CFI RMKs

Last Polaris sled I had was a 2001 151 Edge 800 non-VES twin that was running CPI twin pipes, LPI billet heads, stock 40mm carbs w/ATACC, carbon reeds, and mild porting- you know, mostly stock setup.

Last couple seasons I have spent a lot of time on a Cat Crossfire-700 with MBRP can & intake mods done to it. C7 rips pretty good, but doesn't have the down low oomph my Polaris 800 had. Chassis is nice though, a step ahead of the Edge for sure.

Been eyeballing up something 2007 or newer to get into the IQ chassis. How does the new 700CFI engine stack up to the previous generation Polaris twins? Does the new chassis really help hide the lack of outright power? Am I going to have to dump big $$$ into pipes, heads, etc. right off the start?

one ride on the 700CFI and you will wonder what was wrong with that ol' 800...maybe will lack a little bit of the low end, but it made for a surprisingly powerful machine. I loved it. I don't have much time on the Cat 7, but from reports the newer Polaris sent it packing. Strong engine, and bulletproof to boot. If you are looking, the RAW chassis 700 was great, especially the 09-10 versions. Hope this helps!

i feel that my 08 dragon 700 has the same if not more all around power than the edge 800's and it is stock except for some venting. the 08 700 is rated at 140 from the factory and the edge 800's were rated at 140 too i believe. This is the best and most reliable motor polaris offered imo, we will see how the new 800s are this year, but if you want a pull and go sled in the IQ chassis that rocks in stock fashion i would buy a 700 all over again.:face-icon-small-win
