Company shipping costs

I buy local as much as possible.

But, USPS is much faster and much cheaper then anything else..

Not to mention the ability to easily ship to APO/AFO addresses..

Here is one that I know torques me off.

I sell alot of Amsoil and in the past I could drop ship it to customer and there would be no sales tax unless it was shipped within state. But now ANY customer gets dinged the sales tax, Amsoil charges it on the order and there is no way I can take it off.

I think that this is just the beginning. States hurting for revenue are going to start going after this hard.

Just another option for the bulky items like hoods and whatnot, is Greyhound if you have a depot near you. many things make it the trip much faster and WAY cheaper than UPS or FedEx. Also if it doesn't need to go a long way but outside of what UPS's ground service would go in 1 day, many times you can get it out on a next day basis for way less than UPS red.

That isn't right. They are treating you like you are not a vendor for them. Oakley went through some of this crap last year. I used to buy direct from them when I needed stuff that wasn't in our main catalog. Then they IRS whacked them because they didn't have tax IDs on the guys like me buying direct. So they couldn't account for all that sales tax. Sounds like Amsoil is trying to avoid that situation by charging tax. But if you are a retailer for them, they shouldn't be doing that. Especially since they are very likely charging the incorrect tax for different states/counties/cities. I'd really call them up and talk to someone about that.

In Pennsylvania, you are required to pay sales tax on anything you buy on the internet or over state lines. It is called "Use" tax. If I purchase an item from another state online, I am required to inform the tax agencies of how much I spent and pay my 6% sales tax on it.

Same as if I give away product. If I purchase say jackets, and give them to my customers as gifts at the holidays, I have to pay sales tax on them. Also part of the "Use" tax stuff. Ridiculous.
