Coming to Colorado! Need help...

I'm coming to Colorado to do some riding from december 28th to january 2nd. We are staying in New Castle and will be trailering around to different spots to play.

What I need to figure out is, where should we go and where can we rent beacons from?

We have a friend that lives out there to show us where to ride but just trying to get an idea now. Also how is the snow aound that area in late december early january? I went to Togwotee last december and am hoping for the snow we had there. It was unreal deep. (That was my first time ever out west)

Thanks for the help! I'm getting so pumped for the trip!

Coming to Colorado

From New Castle you can get into the Flattopps & White River National Forest easily. Trailer north above Rifle Falls and you can park at Huffman Gulch. There are some other trail heads as well. Good parking area at Huffman and you snowmobile up from there. Trail maps through Rifle Snowmobile Club plus there are maps at the parking area. Check with JM Adventure Rentals out of Silt and see if they have the beacons. I run a guest ranch 2.5 miles from the Huffman Gulch parking area with cabins or just open for lunch. There is usually enough snow to snowmobile up in early to mid-December. Parking area is at 7000 ft, ranch at 8000 ft, & 9000+ when on top.

I ride this area all winter! Should be good.. There are a couple rental places around that may rent beacons.. If ya went to tog last year and co this year might be a good idea to just buy one!

Pm me for questions!

Also check out Grand Mesa to the south west of New Castle while you're there. Access the north east end from Vega Reservoir, or the middle from above Coalbrun, or the west side from the Hwy that goes over the top (can't remember the hwy# just now).
