Polaris, come on and give us a little something to get excited about! This new blue and lime green Doo might have Snowcheck money down on it by the time you get around to putting yours out! Even Kitty Cat gave us something to get excited about.

I was just about to post the same thing. Seems like we usually have at least a teaser by this time and rumors. But nothin. Makes me think its BNG this year

I do like the new SHOT starter system skidoo released, wouldn't mind seeing something like that offered on the Axys eventually.

This might be a off year for Polaris.

Polaris likes to come to the party fashionably late. They will have something. The dealer meeting is in 2 weeks maybe we will see something before then. But they might wait for Yamaha.

2018 release was developed months ago and has been planned for weeks. Last minute changes based on what the competition announces don't happen. You run what you brung at snocheck, and there's at least 7 weeks before snochecks will close. Lots and lots of time. Enjoy the test rides wherever you can!

I hope Polaris has a lot of new stuff coming in the next couple years. Skidoo is really upping the ante with all their technology.

Thinking that SHOT starting is a waste of technology and money (cuz it will cost you) once been started cold, sleds start so easy. My daughter starts her 97 indy once its warmed up.
I have electric start and sometimes pull the recoil after its been running

I agree but people are getting so lazy. I have never had an electric start and don't think i ever will.

I could see it being good for kids and some women though.

Well, you live in Minnesota and your sled is probably usually flat when you pull it....us mountain guys have to pull start heeled over on some obnoxious hills after rolling sometimes and it can be a beotch to get a good pull.

Electric start is like reverse, once you've had it you'll never go back. Shot will be on all sleds soon enough just like perc reverse. ReTodd is dead on, nothing like trying to reach the rope when your stuck on some steep azzed hill and its on the downhill side:) It is a little funny how the article on shot made it sound like Doo invented it, it's been used on hybrid cars for along time. May be a little different for sleds but the main idea has been in use for quite awhile...

LOL. I disagree, STRONGLY. I am not an estart guy, have never had it but do think this is one of the coolest pieces of sled technology we have seen in a long time.

Ill pull a rope all day everyday for 25lbs weight loss, but for a 2lb penalty shot is a no brainer IMO

long as it has a rope backup, worse thing I've even seen is those KTM's with no kickstart lever, fine if you want to carry 2-3 jumper packs ect ect

That SHOT system is brilliant, but I'll bet that it relies on direct injection to work. They only need to rotate the engine just enough to get one of the pistons to the top and then hit it with fuel. So, we probably won't see it on a Polaris for quite some time.

On a positive note, a Pro RMK with ES is still lighter than a Doo with SHOT. I'm a pull start guy, but if my shoulders ever give out to the point I need ES, I'll just eat less donuts. Light sleds are great, but technique is king.

You still need a pull start with Shot. The capacitor charge is good for about 30 minutes. Cold start in mornings will still be a pull, e.g. In a way, best of both. Just like electronic reverse, it will be available by all OEMs in 3-5 years. Because it works.

Alot of us have been in situations where it was next to, or, impossible to pull the cord on a slope, tree hole, timber maze, creek, etc. If you haven't, yet, you will, if you keep riding in challenging terrain. Besides that, after 25 starts in a day, you'll still appreciate having it.

Yea I see what your saying, didn't think about being up on a side hill with the recoil burried, or trying to pull it with it downhill.:face-icon-small-fro side of sled.

Changing my position. COOL advancement in tech.:)
THANKS

ES

My brother has always said he wanted ES and I always ragged on him about it. I didn't think I would ever get a sled with it but I bought a '17 demo SC model that came with ES.
It's nice to have, damn nice. Will I spend the extra $/lbs. on ES on my next sled? Not sure but like Sandman said, it'll be hard to go back. Kind of like going from a softail to a road glide, hard to give up that radio.
