Colorado Forum Ride - when/where?

Yes, I did. I didn't know I could attend until Dec.20; that was when I tried to get a room, and I DID mention I was with the Forum group.
When I spoke w/my contact at SLO today, I had mentioned this to her and she said those that did call did not want bunkhouse rooms and were informed the cabins were booked. I dunno...they screwed up but as long as the end result works.

Agenda

After many conversations w/SLO we have decided to join forces and work with all parties. :frusty: The other group is having a poker run and is scheduled to be back at SLO with their cards around 4. They have the lodge scheduled from 5-8. They are having a band play from 5-7 and a live auction from 7-8pm. I am a bit put off by how this is turning out but at least we can make the best of it. We will combine dinner with the other group. Buffet style of pasta, bread and salads. Then we will have our raffle after 8pm (which isn't much later than we usually do). Hey, we get a free band out of the deal:musicnote: SLO definately knows our stand on this!:face-icon-small-fro I am trying to negotiate a better discount on our rooms. They will look into the resv and get back with me on that and also what the price of the buffet will be. Since we are joining 'forces' regarding the buffet, it will be a better rate than if we were on our own. This could turn out very interesting:boink:
I need a head count to see how many are interested in doing the buffet for Saturday night. Please PM me if you want in. Anyone not wanting the buffet may still order off the menu or cook your own in the cabin.

I'll get with the guys in my cabin. But I'll prolly order off the menu or cook in the cabin. Not too amped to eat pasta cooked in bulk.

Wow...surprised to read that there is only 31 paying members in the club. What is the other club up there that everybody else belongs too?

The event they have planned is a lot more than just a "club meeting" as it was referred to before. Seems like there will be other like minded people using the same facility to raise money to support the sport they love.

Making lemonade with these lemons should be pretty painless. ;)

According to SLO, that other group is expecting around 150 people to show up. It'll be a PITA but we will figure something out.

The raffle that we are having will be starting later. That other group is slotted to leave around 8pm. Throw clean up in the mix to get their stuff out and our stuff in, I'm guessing our raffle start to be around 9pm at the latest. Hope nobody minds.

I ran into Jamie today at the store, and we discussed the situation. I made the suggestion that they reserve a group of tables for the Forum ride folks based on the number of people submitted by Gail and/or PJ. She said she thought that was something they could do.
The reason I bring this up is the last time I attended a snow club event at SLO, it was standing room only, with most people being locals. If we don't reserve tables, most of the Forum riders will have a tough time finding places to sit and eat together. I think most of the folks, based on my past experience who attend the snow club event will be sticking around to drink and enjoy the band, so it's going to be crowded regardless of what time things get planned for.

On a similar note, most of the snow club people are locals, and most of them are avid sledders, or at least hybrid who ride a sled to get back into the back country to ski. Very few will be the green peace cross country types.

Yeah, we are working something out. I need a place to sit and sell our raffle tickets too.

And as for the Greenies, we should all go up and ride when the Coure de doucheweeds arrive in March!

And I find it sad that 150+ people will attend this fundrasier for a new groomer but yet there are only 31 members. And how many peeps use the groomed trails?

150 plus the Forum riders????????? no way can SLO handle that many at one time, I have been there with 25 friends plus a few locals and couldn't get service

No. 150 of the other group.

I spoke with Shawn and cooking in the cabin is a plan. But the raffle will go as planned on Saturday evening, just later. The reasoning is that alot of folks will just be coming up Saturday to day trip and having to either go home Sunday or will be working Sunday. The raffle stays at Saturday

Was up there Friday there is a really good base so any new snow out of this system should be good we played in the tree's and north facing stuff we found some good stashes! Took a bunch of guys from Austraila so we were mostly trail bitchin anyway they had a great time and I must say for never riding or for that matter seeing a snowmobile before thy did awesome!

I prefer not to do a raffle in the afternoon as I would rather be riding. Sucks cause it would be hard to hold it Friday night due to some having to work and travel time so would get in late. All I can say is it sucks!!! I call BS on this one! SLO should have known better and if they had any questions or concerns, Jamie had my number from clear back when I spoke with her mid October. At this point, I am trying to work out a deal where they compensate us better than the frickin 10% discount. It doesn't help with the raffle issues but they should do something for puttin us out.

I agree, it wasn't like they didn't know what our plans were a LONG time ago.
