Colorado Forum Ride - when/where?

PJ - I'm not a member of the club, I'm just passing on what I read in the paper this weekend. I tried calling SLO, and got the same person who doesn't know anything. They did tell me there are severial calls/messages concerning this subject, and waiting for Jamie to get back to the office.

Maybe I mis-spoke when I said they had SLO "reserved", maybe they (the snow club) made a schedule assuming SLO would be available?

Again, I'm just the messenger here.

I know this has become a sensitive item. Let's not get worked up about it. I will chat w/them tomorrow since I spoke w/them months ago. If it is double booked, the Forum Ride banquet had better get presidence since we have booked the whole lodge and putting forth a lot of money to their business. I will keep you posted as soon as I know anything.
fyi--my name is Gail and I am Assault1's wife. Due to Assault1's health issues, I had stepped in awhile back to get this started and set up the deal w/SLO. Soon after we started this, Assault1, aka Doug, was diagnosed w/lung cancer. He has been undergoing treatment of chemo and radiation. He goes in for more scans wednesday to see how efft trmt has been. Please keep him in your thoughts and prayers.
Since we have been facing this ordeal, PJ stepped up and agreed to take on the donation aspect and Shaun doing the t-shirts and stuff. This could not have been done without their help to make this a successful ride. If it were a simple task they took on, more people would have stepped up to the plate. So thank you guys for doing this!!
All I want to see is this be the best ride yet and everyone have a great time! So let's not get into a pissing match and just let this ride out until we have our answers.

is it hard to find a hotel during that weekend?
Just spoke w/Steamboat Lake Outfitters and they have their bunkhouses still open. Rate is normally $80.10 then will receive 10% discount at check in when book for 3 nights. All cabins are booked but bunkhouse rooms still open....PLEASE pass this on. call SLO at 800-342-1889 for reservations.

You made it seem that you were a member. Could you please shoot me a number for them? I'd like to NICELY speak with them.

I apologize for going off but I'm pretty pissed. It is kinda a big deal because there are folks that have scheduled days off (lets be honest, 99% of workers don't get Monday off, it's a govt. holiday) to do this ride. There are folks that have given up tons of time and a few of their own dollars to get this thing going. All because a local club wants to have a meeting.

We're all sledders with a noble cause, ! I'm sure these guys will come to a solution with that in mind.

On Presidents day SLO isn't hurting for business and I greatly appreciate that they went out of their way to accomodate us a few years ago. Truth is, they took a hit on the dinner because they had a few extra prime rib roasts left over. I'm sure they did OK, but there are several groups like ours wanting to book SLO and It's hard to blame them for taking full advantage of the weekend. These little resorts only have so many "prime" weekends to keep them alive. Did "we" specifically reserve the resteraunt for Sat. night?

The Forum ride might even sell more raffle tickets that night with a few more "eyes on the prize(s)"............could raise more money and that is what Sat. night is about, right?

Yes bunkhouse rooms avail. Just rented one a couple days ago.

The North Routt Snow Club is not all sledders. It is a "mixed use" club.

I seriously doubt that the other half of the "mixed" would be thrilled to see a group of fun loving peeps raising money to keep public lands open to all users, and not closing them down to sledders, bikers, dirt bikers and the like.

Well, when I spoke with the manager about a donation from SLO (months ago), I specifically spoke about the raffle and diners happening on that first night after the day's ride. She knows and this will be resolved tomorrow.

Spoke w/Jamie briefly this afternoon regarding the night of our raffle. The other 'club', which one I don't know, has something going on at 5pm. She was going to check into this a bit further and call me back tomorrow. She did know all along we were having a dinner and raffle. Matter of fact, when I first spoke with them months ago, they informed me to call back when it gets closer to the date to set up dinner arrangements. Sounds like there are not near as many Forum peeps as in the past so I am sure this is why they opened a lot of things up to the public. Since a lot of the bunkhouse rooms were still vacant, I know those have been opened to the public for reservations. Anyway, I am sure she will come up with a solution that will benefit all parties. Last thing we want to do is create issues and give the Forum Riders a bad rep. I am just negotiating dinner reservations for buffet style for Saturday night only. In the past, a lot of peeps did not partake in the other meals and we don't want to set up for failure...and Saturday night everyone should be there for the raffle. I will send out for a head count once I get more information from her.

Gail, did Liz get in touch with you? I was told that she would call yesterday but I received nothing.

Just hoping to get an idea of what is going to happen.

Are they as unorganized as they seem? I tried to book a room 6 weeks ago and was told "everything is booked solid"; I got on a waiting list and heard nothing. And now people are getting rooms? I got spaces in a cabin due to a cancellation, but WTF?!?!

i think this could turn out to be real entertaining if we could all get together for a group hug....LOL the mixed users would have there oppertunity to tell us how they feel face to face:face-icon-small-sho then we could show them how we feel:cheer2:.... sounds theraputic to me:lol: im in!:face-icon-small-hap

Did you mention you were with the Forum Ride? They blocked all rooms out for us then what didn't book by mid Dec was to be opened up to the public.

Yes, I did. I didn't know I could attend until Dec.20; that was when I tried to get a room, and I DID mention I was with the Forum group.
