Coasting

I noticed this today descending from some small hill climbs. Hand off the throttle completely and the motor stays at around 4,000 rpm.

In the past, my other sled would drop back to idle on descent when the throttle was released and the clutch would disengage.

If I apply the brake (even momentarily), the motor will drop right back to idle.

Is this a characteristic of the clutch? I'm not complaining, just curious.

more the clutching setup..you can change things and dial it out..the dragons were way worse when they came out..darn near throw you over the bars when you chopped the throttle on turnout...this weekend I will be installing my dragon clutches to see how the pro pulls my clutching..hopefully it pulls it good...

My guess would be more belt deflection....... so the primary will disengage easier.

question for you guys on the "snapring" on the master cylinder. where is it? I pulled the lever off of the master cylinder and the piston plunger came out about 1/4 inch, filed some of the lever off and still can't get any free play. any thoughts? thanks

How I set my lever: (I didn't remove the rubber boot from the plunger in search of the snapring)

1) Ground off enough lever material so that I could set my parking brake easier AND
2) left enough material that I don't squish my pinkie and ring finger when I applied maximum pressure to the lever (I'm a two finger braker)

Go slow, the nylon grinds down quickly, you can always take more off

There is no way I could gring off enough to make it work! It took off all I was comfortable with and no change... The MS is a POS!

i only used a hand file to take the material off of the lever, still can't get the parking brake to set on the second setting. I didn't want to take too much off and then have the lever snap off. Do you have any free play with your lever now? no matter how much i take off, i won't be able to get any free play with mine. thanks again

After setting the brake once on mine it kinda sounds like the brake is dragging all the time. Light pressure on the brake lever makes the sound go away. Checked the disk and it's not getting smoking hot. I have a 4 year warranty so I'm just going to ride it till it fixes itself or breaks :face-icon-small-win. Maybe it's not really an issue since the disk isn't getting all that hot.

The light drag or hold back is from the clutch(driven), when you let off the throttle is slips into the reverse gear on the helix witch will cause you to feel a drag (nothing is really dragging but it will hold you back) If you hit the throttle hard you will hear the rollers shift forward and so on.

No it's not! Mine does it on throttle!
I didn't gain any ground by griding mine off, but I did pull the actuator rod all the way out and drained the MS, re installed and filled with fluid and bled again. Now I have some free play...:face-icon-small-con

Not sure if what I've experienced is what you speak of or not. I've noticed that if you are cruising down the trail or open area and lightly let off the throttle is feels like you have applied the brake and the motor makes a sound like it is applying a jake brake. That's about as good as I can explain it. Add a little throttle and as long as the motor is pulling and not coasting, everything is fine.

Anybody else notice this? Not saying there's a problem, it's just weird.

Ha! Probably the first to quote his own quote. Well after another day in the mountains, I got sick and tired of the jake brake feeling and the sled was starting to idle rough. The dealer has contacted Polaris and they are trying to figure out if a TPS setting or something is messed up. Other than a jake brake feeling you could say it feels like somebody is turning the key off or hitting the kill button while you are riding but only when slightly ever so lightly letting off the throttle. As soon as you increase load and rpm the sled cleans up and runs awesome. Not the same problem you guys are dealing with but thought I should at least clarify. I will post the remedy when one is found.

P light on cluster

I noticed on my first ride that the P light came on and would not go off until I stoppped and let things cool off. I was stoppping periodically to let the engine have a break anyway cause I was breaking in. the P light came on and stayed on three differant times and I felt brake drag too,you can hear it.

I can hear my brake dragging when riding up/down the access fire roads into the back country.

I'll mention it when it goes in for it's first service and see if there's any TSB by then on it.

my brake has a loud whine while im riding the trail. stop after a 50mph 5 mile trail ride and remove side panel and spit on brake rotor and it boils off... ? any one have this figured out??

PROBLEM HAS BEEN FOUND. - Well Polaris has seen this problem once before. Supposedly it is in the auxillary kill switch. You let off the throttle or lightly release the throttle and it trys to half heartedly kill the motor. Switch is going to be overnighted at my cost but sure sounds like the culprit. Keeping my fingers crossed.
