Hey guys, i am going to yank the primary clutch on my 06 700 to access and repair another point on the sled. the clutch removal tool i have is the one from SLP, a friend of mine had said that brand may damage the crank and the Polaris one is better to use/buy. Has anyone ever heard this? Or know how this one could be bad? Or was he maybe mistaken? I suppose I could buy/borrow that one if need be but would prefer not too. By the way I dont want to knock SLP they have always been of great service to me. Thanks forum

Personally, if it's the correct SLP clutch puller for your sled, I would not hesitate to use it. My clutch puller for my 900 is an EPI (I think), and it's pulled my primary at least two dozen times with no issues. It doesn't have to be a factory tool to work and IMHO, SLP makes a pretty good product.

SLP, EPI are both good tools, you may find it you have a stubborn clutch that don't want to co-operate a Polaris one is most likely going to get it off.
Place a dap of grease at the end that will be in contact with the crankshaft and on threads (make sure you clean out after)
I have split a SLP and 2 EPI's on a stubborn clutch, if it don't "pop" off come back and the guys here can dig out some "tricks of the trade" or experience in removing the clutch when it's a pita! I'm pretty sure DiscoDan had started a thread on it, and all sorts of great input. It will save you greif and time and most of all the crank! Good luck!
