Clutch? Do I need a kit? Maybe a DJ?

I've got two 2002 Summit 800 Highmark 151 sleds. Both pretty much stock. The only difference is, one has RER and a can. The one w/o RER (that my GF rides) has 900 miles, runs great and the clutch engages nicely at about 3500 RPMs. However the one I ride, that has RER and ~1200 miles and doesn't engage until about 4500. It dang near rips your arms off at take off! Also, I've really noticed that it doesn't seem to use it's full potential of power when climbing in powder. Clutch settings are the same for both; 4 on primary and 3 on secondary. I've gone through the clutch and cleaned and inspected everything, but that didn't help. So now I'm contemplating what to do next...

Can anyone think of what might be causing this? is it the RER? Is it spring fatigue even at 1200 miles? Is there any way to tell if it is?

If it is something with the clutch, then I'm thinking about putting in a clutch kit (or maybe even if it's not:rolleyes:). I live in CO and typically ride >8000 ft with a mix of boondocking, hill climbing, trail riding, and towing an ice fishing shelter. I've heard good things about the DJ clutch kits in both price and performance. Any thoughts on doing this or other recommendations?

Any input would help!
