Clutch alignment...... without tool?

View attachment 264654

I see my inner sheave has alot of belt material on it, outer side is clean.

This is what both my '12 and '13's looked like before check and adjustment (as have all of the others I have checked). I also had this on the opposite side of the secondary's down low.

I try to run the SPX tool with no gap on the rear of the tool between it and the secondary.

With a trip coming and no time to get an adjustment tool shipped before is there minor adjustment that I can make one way or the other?

One thing you can do to check offset without the correct tool is to use a thin, STRAIGHT piece of steel or aluminum thats around 12-14" long (havent done this in a while so measure first if your going to buy a piece). Remove the belt, and when the secondary is still open, place the metal piece on edge down into the secondary clutch and remove the holding screw so the secondary sheaves close and pinch the metal and hold it in place. You now have a pointer thats dead center in your secondary and it should be resting dead center of the primary bushing. Eric
