clipin tools for 2,6 serie

What exactly is the point of fully clipping the track? Might have my dealer do it when I take it in here soon if it's worth it

Last year some guys were getting abnormal track wear, on the inside of the track, near the windows that are not clipped from the factory. This will prevent that from happening.

Its very odd though, because some guys, myself included, didnt not see these wear issues at all. I think it has to do with how and where you ride. If you ride any groomed or hard packed trails I think it would be worth clipping the track. Eric

oh ok yeah mine did that too. Any clue what a dealer would charge? They're usually $100+ an hour for labor around here.

You're better off to do it yourself. Takes 10 min to get the skid out, another 10min to remove the driveshaft/track, clipped my track in 15 min then another 30min to have it all back together and properly tensioned/lined up.

Dealer will charge you a fortune.

With multiple reports of the cheaper clipping tools breaking pins I decided to pony up for the Tracks USA tool.

Yes it's nearly 2.5x the cost, but you get what you pay for. Essentially its just dead bolt cutters with the clip crimping tool welded on the ends, just to give you an idea of how heavy duty it is.

Did the entire track on the floor in about 15min.

Woody's Track Clipping Tool?

Has anyone used the Woody's track clipping tool? It is a screw clamp type tool that looks heavy duty and price is reasonable. I am thinking about full clipping my track.

I just finished fully clipping my 155" with the Woody's tool and a 3" track lug clearance anvil. It is a little tedious, but was nice not to have to take the skid out to do it. Took about 1.5 hrs to complete or so. Crimps the clips on nicely.

So after getting nowhere with that piece of crap Chinese made crimp tool. I bought another one from ebay. The guy who sells them makes them himself and it works perfectly. Heavy duty and cnc machined and makes a perfect crimp every time. Takes no time with a cordless impact. I would highly suggest this one over the original tool. I just crimped where the track goes back up into the tunnel after the rear wheels.

That looks like the Woody's tool. Found it on Amazon for $82 with free shipping. Not the ridiculous $30 shipping charge the guy on Ebay wants.

Yes its basically the same but with the Woodys tool, you also have to buy the adapter for a 3" track which is about another $50. And I live in Canada so $30 shipping to here isn't all that bad.

FYI, we have seen a couple of these tools fail and others last a long time. The pins can come loose. Now we checked our new stock and out of 4 tools, 1 had a pin that was not riveted over. We are now re-riveting all pins on all tools before shipping.

I must have had a bad one because I had 3 pins break on me and I just got fed up with it. I had 3 or 4 that were already crimped and I went over them with the new tool and got them to look exactly like the original ones.
