Christmas Bonus

we take everyone that has been with us for at least one year and thier wifes to a nice dinner. then they get a pecent of the profits for the year up to 5 percent. largest check we wrote this year was for 25 k smallest was 7500. we dont have to give anything but happy workers work best and they make me the money so why not

I used to work for a construction company that awarded bonuses based on the boss's little record book. Every week he would anotate by your name with a smile or frown. At the end of the year, (it was an end of year bonus, not Christmas) he would multiply the smiles by 50 bucks, and subtract the frowns times 100 bucks.
It sure was a great way to keep the lazy guys in line.

Your bonus is now you work 1/2 as hard for twice the pay.

Our (local) economy is down, way down. All companies are suffering, mine is no exception. I had done parties in the past but chose to spend the money on bonuses instead as I felt they would be more appreciated than a party. Being roughly 80k off of last year any suggestions from the crowd as to what would be appreciated? I would love suggestions.

I really didn't expect anything to be honest, but we got 100 bones this year. It's not much but its nice to get a little something for the holidays..


We have profit sharing programs over the year and other little things though.

Just cut the bonus checks today for my 8 employees. 4 full timers got 300, and 4 part timers got 100. Also have health insurance, 3% match of wages for a simple ira, sick leave and vacation. Company cant operate without it's employees, so they need a little appreciation once and awile. I'll give it to them at the christmass party on Saturday, at the nicest restaurant in the area.

Just got an email from the boss - I office from the house - saying "take your spouse / other out to a nice dinner and send me the bill. Please keep it to around $100."

Not bad since I just started this job 4 weeks ago

I'm not expecting anything this year, I was in the company as a temp last christmas so naturally I didn't see anything. I have a feeling this year's bonus went into airline tickets, my boss and a few other people (myself excluded, thankfully) are going to china next week, $5k/seat....

Got some really good Avs tickets last weekend, was told that was because test engineering dept. was doing such a great job at keeping things running and keeping everyone happy. I sure won't complain if I see some extra $ this month though
