Chev truck wiper problems

I have an 03 chev truck and my wife tried to just use the wipers to get a massive amount of snow off the windshield. Well now only one of them work right the other one will only work if there is no snow what-so ever and no ice build up. sometimes it will go about half way up and stop but it always goes back down. Ideas??

Probably stripped the splines where the wiper arm mounts onto the small shaft. There is enugh grab when the windshield is clear, but when put uner a load it spins inside itself.

u may be able to temp. fix it. take off the wiper and clean the threads out.put some tin foil on the stud and put the wiper back on. put a washer on the wiper between the wiper and nut and tighten down again. not to tight but tight. it will at least be a temp. fix :beer;

my bro used to have a 03 duramax that he did the same thing to. Wipers were froze down, turned them on and only one went. This was just as we were leaving for Laramie, WY. So stopped by the dealer and it was about a 2 minute fix. Didn't stand there and watch, but i seem to remember there being a set screw or something that they just tightened up and we were on our way. Hope this is all that's wrong with yours.

lock tight is what i used... i used the red stuff and never had a problem again... just took it apart cleaned it real good then put some on both parts. put it back together and let er sit for a day befor i used the wipers again... worked great:D

If you use red loctite the next time they need to come off it will not come off! It is bad enough seperating them with the metal disimilarities (aluminum wiper and steel shaft).
