Checked out the bowl North of AM lakes today

Sounds like a job for DJ? LMAO :)

Yeah, and put some wings on it and maybe a parachute and with enough speed....

I chit you not, my first thought when i see a bunch of skiiers taking up the trail is "Bowling for Skiiers". Then I realize that's some serious farked up chit and I'll let them live, or leave the kids alone and just take out the scowling adults :face-icon-small-dis. We need to do ourselves and future sledders a favor and keep the Dragon in the cave until we get up the trail past the distractions, then let the beast loose:D.

Bushmaster did I steal your pic? I've got a few from up there. I think you did give it the sakshrivler name!

I pulled in a tobogan and stayed the night with some buddies up there got 2' of powder snow that night and not a lick of wind to blow it off the next day w/bluebird. Every now and then we get good conditions up there. Not even worth going if its overcast and windy!

Yeah, I have that one, and no I don't care, just thought i'd pipe up. That was a memorable day on the old Powder special. I buried it good over to the right a few hundred yards. You camped up there:eek: That's hardcore! 10-4 on the bluebird day only, it's a freaky place with no visibility.

From that same climb at turnout

Sounds good Q, but you got kids, so none of that crazy talk!!!. I wouldn't mind getting in there and poking at it from below though. I found the picture of the ridge area where you might be able to drop in from....well dropping in really isn't the problem...lol Over to the right where the tracks go up and farther north on the ridge there's a spot that looks like a possible. Maybe go check it out in December before the snow gets too deep and you could still exit via the ditch road before the drifts turn it into a continuation of the crazy steep slope it's notched into. Fun to ponder when it's 70 degrees outside anyway! Friggin Indian summer :face-icon-small-dis

Way to much to share on this subject for me to type. You just let me know when you want to get WAY GNARLY........we will drop off the north side and down in.........Need deep snow. I've never dropped over the north side of the popular climb........ But I want to..................

We need to share notes;)

qreiff and bushy u need to hook a wyoming boy up for a ride down in that stuff that looks like it could be some fun pulling some lines on the tapex let me know guys

I'm in Paul. Just say when, and when we go, make sure I KNOW WHEN TO SAY WHEN-pertaining to the climbing:) It looks like there is a lot of "expensive" real estate at the bottom of those climbs:cool:

those "easterly" track are where we poached over "ish" anyway. No drops involved but........some lumberjackin' and some deep a$$ snow that will swallow you in a tree well if your not careful (I got a look first hand:o)

I mentioned deep snow because it is super rocky in a couple areas and one hill inparticular was a helluva ride down..........smackin' rocks while gaining speed!

the ditch was a bit tricky in some areas due to drifting and sidehillin' is a must for quite a ways........................TBC

Quinton, you don't even know where the He!! you were at do you:rolleyes::D Have you even been in Jackson county before:confused:

Well lets get together and do this epic adventure and your all welcome to come drink whiskey and beer afterwards back at my cabin, an hour down from the pass. Ike, you can drink........whatever it is you drink brotha:cool:

I wouldn't worry about the climbs Ike, the more initmidating ones have a way of saying don't even try me til spring! Plenty of gnarly stuff that's dooable all winter though.

that last pic is what i like to see that little chute to the left of ur sled looks narley but do able depending whats on the other side cause iam assuming u aint got a chopper any were hideing or do u bushy i cant wait to ride with all u folk come feb or sooner heheheand have some of these:beer;

I'll keep the chopper on standby at Poudre valley hospital:D I saw a guy flirt with that chute once when it had more snow; he hit it on the left and turned out while he still could. No where to go though. If you look at the first pic of this post that climb and this one line up opposite each other. You could probably come over top from the other side and come down this side, but you'd want to have the thunderstruck chopper on hand to film that cuz it would be pretty cool. Here's a google earth image looking west on both bowls. The climb your looking at is to the right of the Michigan lakes label and the other climb is over the ridge opposite it. The AML side is about 270' of vertical, the other side is close to 650' !!

What doo you mean, whatever I want to drink! I drink the Felkers Kool-Aid:D You must have read that Capen/Christian thread and wonder about me and my choice of beverage. I drink Whiskey-in moderation:face-icon-small-win I might sneak up there Mon-Tues for a MTN bike ride along the Ditch road. Is that dooable??

Yeah I saw that thread and how you included me in the list of "heathens" you know. lol Whiskey it is! Too much snow for a ride i'd say. There was 6 to 12" in most areas around the pass.

I was thinking it probably melted by now. Last friday there was only, maybe 10" at Cameron. Well, maybe I'll have to hoof it. I've been studying Google Earth for an hour. There seems to be some pretty good climbs in there!!!

I think the ground is cold enough that it will stick around for awhile. Quite a bit left last Sunday anyway.

I guess I need to re-tract my wise-crack about qreiff. He did indeed drop into that bowl and come out on the ditch. Sounds like it was a freaky ride too!
