Charge temps?

F
On the phone with OVS last week. Could have swore he said charge temps can get to 280 F to 300 F. Doesn't that seem really high? Maybe I heard wrong.

The higher the boost, the higher the charge temps? Correct?

playing with fire there, the reeds will not last long at that temp, and detonation will happen that much quicker, intercooler or a water to air, could really help

seen a guy with a air to water run charge temps of 40 degrees at 10lbs boost, will be my next move as well

I know on my aero 66 on a 900efi cat without the water to air on a long pull max temp it 220f and with the pump on will drop to 40f. Simple formula .1-3 pressure drop across intercooler lower charge temp by180 adds to denser air and more power lower detonation and easier on reeds only draw back is added weight and space. Also this is at 12lbs of boost.

what type of gauge and how did you mount it to get your charge temps, was planning on adding a gauge, not sure where or what, thanks

Using a 4 window digitron with 3 egt and 2 for cylinders and 1 in the air box and sensor for water in cooling loop or engine. Found using a egt probe quicker response and you get a max reading also.

cold air intake will work wonders as well.
i am used to seeing with under the hood intake 120-200 @8-10lbs
i did my own cold air intake this year and the highest charge temps ive seen are 70 degrees.
i am using an intercooler too.
air to air...

huge difference in throttle response much crisper.
