challenger or powerclaw

I was going to put a PC on my dragon a few years ago, after seeing all the issues with getting the right drivers and everything else needed to do it, i opted to go with the 2.5 extreme using a Fastrax drop and roll with the stock drivers...part of what changed my mind was the reports of going downhill with the PC...glad I did the extreme..its a great track and really inhanced the dragon over the 2 ply 5.1,,on my pro, if I changed the track today, I would do avids drivers and chaincase, with a 3 in extreme...the guys running them on other wise stock sleds rave about how good they go in deep/steep pow.......just my thoughts.....

I agree 100% if you are going to change challanger ext 2.5..and yes the 3" is really amazing (I run the 163-16 3" on my mod sled) But I will say the stock polaris track does work quite well on the pro, I hate it on the dragon tho. imho

IMHO I wouldn't change your track. Run the 5.1 and see how you like it.

I agree with aksnowrider if I was to change I would consider the camo 3" lug.

Stock 5.1 works great on the pro. The powerclaws are a trench digging POS, from what I've seen on M8's.

80 duro Powerclaw here. Really like it.

For Tahoe snow seems to work good (have it on my Nytro also). Wondering if the lug pattern and bigger spacing plays a role in reducing parasitic drag?

Everyone seems to complain about PC coming down a hill but it doesn't seem any worse than any others.

Not to start a sh!t fight but if the stiffer lug of the Camo makes it brake downhill better, it seems like it could be more susceptible to trenching? More of a question than a statement.

Having seen the stock clearances of the 5.1, I wouldn't put a 2.5 in there without an extended chaincase. Again, not trying to start a sh!t fight... Just my opinion from my observation when removing my stock 5.1 and seeing the marks on the tunnel and tight clearances all around.

Someone also mentioned that Carls sold something like 300 PC's for the Pro. Don't know if that number is true but they do sell the drivers for the PC and I think most would agree that Carls knows a thing or two about Polaris.

But I will say the stock polaris track does work quite well on the pro, I hate it on the dragon tho.

Agreed! My D8 was terrible with the stock 5.1. But that 5.1 feels like a different track on the Pro. Grabs better and really gets up on top of the snow, most of that being the light weight of the Pro and great rear skid. Now I'm afraid a CE or PC would ruin that!

If you are drag racing or on hard pack a lot, then the 5.1 will show it's flaws. But it is much better on the Pro than the IQ.

I was chatting with my dealer the other day who installed a CE 163 on his demo PRO. He has 1300 miles and wishes he had the stocker back on. I run the 153 powerclaw on my 09 800 and am really impressed. I would be curious to have F-Bomb chime in on how the F-Bomb track mod has worked on his sled this year

I think the sled just flat out works out of the box. I don't know how much ROI you would get out of a new 700 dollar track. I had the PC on my M8, and after 1700 miles I was missing quite a few paddles. The stock Poo track has held up well-no tears or missing lugs that I can see after 900 miles. A buddy has a camo extreme on his M8, and its good... just don't think its going to be a ton better. A side by side comparison might just show ya just how good, or how little it changed things.
