Hey guys i wanna put in a challenger extreme that is a 16x156-2.5, any one have problems with track speed loss after going to a 16 inch wide track. What about snow evacuation from little to no clearence. thanks

I am going from a PowerClaw to a CE 174"x16"x2.5"....

You will be fine...if you have not geared down then, I would suggest you do...People make too much about the power issue...these Nytros have plenty to spin a 2.5"...Have a buddy running a stock XP and he is running a 174x16x3.0" and it is shocking where that thing will go...

X2. I had a 15 and 16 on my Nytro and went back to 15. Way more fun. After running both on the exact same sled I'll never run a 16 wide again.

I'd keep this ^^^ in mind too.

I wish mine were 15".. They definately seem to work better for holding carves under lower speeds...and work better for carving in the setup snow.

The next issue may be the overly wide running boards...for the tight carves.

The 16's definately have their place tho. DEEEEEP and the STEEEEEP. And i do not doubt they float better at slow speeds through the trees.

So its all a give-take battle. :)

ok guys thanks for the input, my nytro is stock except for a under tunnel exhaust. I was really thinking the 16 wide would help with trenching issues. But was told by hartman that snow and air evacuation would be minimal and that track speed would not allow me to get over 40 miles an hour, and that i would also need to trim the track lugs to 2.25 inches.

i dont know about the track speed but i really dont think so!! as for the 2.5 needing tobe trimmed?? there is alot of people running 2.5 paddles under stock tunnel.. i will be one of them this year.. i went with 16 wide x 156 for deep floation also.. Loved my 16 wides on doos hopefully same!!

you would get just fine track speed...and you would NOT have to trim the track...LOTS of people running 2.5's...a few running 3.0" but then you ahve to do a heat exchanger move...which is not easy...
