Chaincase advise Please!

I have an ancient polaris wedge chassis with the SLP chaincase roll that puts the Jackshaft through the tunnel. This machine uses a chaincase with a relatively short center to center distance between the jackshaft and drive shaft so I can not fit a 2.5 inch lug track. I have plenty of clearance otherwise. Does anyone know of a chaincase where I can keep my current drive shaft location and put my jackshaft back on top of the tunnel in its stock location? I have not gotten out the calipers, but I am guessing I need something close to 9 in center to center vs the 6.5 or so that I already have. (boy that came out worded bad.. :p)... Any help is appreciated.

Thanx

Karl

P.S. CMX and diamond drives are an option, but hey, its an old sled and those options are a bit pricey and the diamond does not give much clearance for the secondary.

I have played a bit with some older wedge chassis. The stock wedge chassis with 8 tooth drivers will handle 1.5" track. If the case has the slp kit, it probably could take 1.5 with the nine tooth and a 2.5 with the 8 tooth?? Maybe it even had 7 tooth drivers on it?? I have seen a couple of guys that were good fabricators that took the chancase and cut it half and stretched it to position the jackshaft in the stock position. I guess it all depends on what you want to do with it and how much you want to spend on what will be a $1000 sled (on a good day)when your done. Maybe you should reposition the skid aft and put a 1.5" 144 on it? Have fun and good luck!

Thanks, More back ground. The sled used to be an ultra, it is now more aftermarket than polaris. The sled runs a 2 inch 156 on an 01 skid with WP tunnel with a mega cooler in the front of the tunnel. It retains the stock 9 tooth drivers. The added .5 inch to the lug would be trival in terms of tunnel clearance except for where the jackshaft is. My problem is holes are drilled in the bulkhead at the stock location and now at the SLP rolled chaincase location. I hesitate to put yet another hole pattern in for a new chaincase plus all the new suspension bracket locations down the tunnel. I would like to keep the 9tooth drivers in this age of 10" extros and big wheel kits.

thanx

Karl

Check into using a chaincase from a 03 vertical edge. Put the jackshact in the stock location and you should be fine with 8t drivers. Also it would be all factory parts, always a good idea when something needs to be replaced.
