how do i adjust the chain tension on a 2012 rmk pro?
i know where the adjuster and jam nut are but how tight do i go?
do i pull the chaincase cover off?
or is it just by feel?

thank you for any help. i am at 606 miles now

1-Rotate the driven clutch counter clockwise and lock the parking brake, this takes all the slack out of the chain.
2-loosen the jam nut
3-finger tighten the adjuster bolt till you can no longer turn it by hand anymore, then back it off a quarter turn.
4-tighten the jam nut back up while holding the adjuster bolt
5-release brake
6-Also check your chain case oil level. Fill it up till it starts flowing out the fill hole.

I just noticed you had 600 miles on your sled. You might want to take a look inside and inspect how your chain and gears look... If you never tightened the chain before you might have some unwanted case rubbing or premature chain, sprocket wear... I would pop the cover off and take a look sometime soon. Later

I thought the service interval on that was 500 miles? 600 is close enough for me if so...

FYI...All of this information and a guideline for maintenance schedules are in the owners manual as well. If you can't find your manual...it is also available online through the Polaris Industries website.

More FYI, the manual recommends that the chain case tension be checked before each long ride or at least weekly. The maint chart says 500 mi.
