Chain case oil

I've searched and searched but the search function on tapatalk is garbage and the dealership was no help, they said they have there own oil and that was it! What can we use in the chain case on the PC M8? I'd like to use an ams product but any good synthetic would work for me!

If ams means Amsoil, seems their synthetic chain case oil should be a useable alternative to the factory fill.

Although I've never used it in anything other than a 1978 Jag, I've heard that the chain oil you can get at Walmart is just as well as anything else.

have had great success with Shell Ultra synthetic products including the chaincase oil.

Too thick. ATF would be better than diff lube. Go with Amsoil

Been using full synthetic 75-90 Valvoline in the DD for a long time. It really is not thick like 80 or 90 gear and does not thicken up in the cold like the fossil stuff. About $8 a quart. With all the lubes that have been put in DDs over the years we have learned one thing I think. They really are not that picky as long as there is something decent in there.

There is nothing easier to lube than a chain case. I've always used ATF with very good results, some use 2 stroke oil, some use engine oil, and yes some even use gear lube. In cold climates I would stay away from gear lubes myself. You are trying to lube the inside pin of the roller, not the outside! I had 5000 miles on the chain and gears of my King and the chain still did not have any more twist play in it than the new one I put on!

HOOCH - I swapped out my track for a CE 2.5" last week too. Those instructions saved my bacon. How did you make out?

Pretty good track came right out hopefully it goes in as easy but I'm still waiting on my track and acids to be pressed on!

75w is too thick for the temps we operate initially sub freezing.

Chain case oil is too thick at 75W plus.

I run ATF in all my sleds Polaris , Arctic Cat and Yamaha AS WELL AS my FORD trucks chaincases, GM truck chaincaes, Jeep chaincases, and loaders Bobcat & Gehl chaincases

I know a guy running a rental fleet of 30 plus sleds and he uses ATF on all his sleds and sells the sleds at 6000 miles.

Not one failure PLUS pulling the oil out of 75W plus oil in chaincases after a cold winter I typically find metal shavings or pieces of gears cause the 75w oil is very thick at -20F

Tell you what put some 75w gear oil and ATF oil in the freezer for a while take it out and try to scramble it like eggs and see the reisitance you get on the 75w.

If you want buy the best ATF synthetic fluid out there ... about $7-8 a quart

The only downside to ATF fluid is the environmental impact because of the additives ... maybe go with a belt drive ?
