ceramic coating

With all of the debate over stock versus aftermarket on the XM cans, I wonder if there is much weight loss by removing the shielding on the pipe and can, then coating them?

Damage it how?

yes,,,, that is my question.... winter brew said he had a y pipe crack. you were saying the the tumbling process could get the part in a compromising position and put undo stress on the part...??? I think... which is what raised the question to me. there is no tumble to shine the satin or flat ceramic eliminating the risk, if there is

ohhhh, I see. No, chance of that. Structurally, the Y pipe is the strongest part of the exhaust system outside of the silencer.

I was referring to a RARE situation in which a LARGE header or pipe is being polished. The parts are supposed to barrel role in the machine when they polish. Occasionally, a LARGE part will get stuck or wedged against the walls of the polisher and it will not roll as normal. If this were to happen with a "fragile" part it is conceivable it could get damaged. The polishing process itself is harmless, in that you can stick your arms and hands in it as it polishes.....
