cell phone service snowies

What phone do you have? I've seen certain model phones get better/worse signals over others with Verizon in the snowies. I agree though, I wouldn't rely on it. I carry both a Spot and a sat phone.

Sorry for the long delay, I have a DARE, an early smart phone. I've noticed I've been getting a little bit of service on the Libby Flats lately.

I have AT&T, just a regular Nokia flip phone. Pretty spotty service, was up this weekend and got nothing at Lake Marie so I turned it off. Also had problems in the winter getting it to work from the Albany lot calling up to Keystone (to another AT&T phone), but those are about the only 2 times I've really checked it.

I have a cheap trac phone that I use when I go out west, it gets great service any where on the mountain. The trac phones use any and all towers so they usally get a good signal anywhere.

I got an union phone just for sledding in the Snowies and the Madres. My Verizon sucks. The union has been great. $30.00 a month

Pulling up an old thread, is there verizon service at Albany lodge? Centennial?

Thanks,

Dan

Verizon service is spotty in Albany, but better than it used to be - I can usually get a slight signal in the parking lot, but I don't depend/count on it. If you go up the trail a bit above Albany you can usually pull over to the side and get a signal.

There are also some cabins that have the Verizon network extenders hooked up to the internet on the mountain so you may see a signal or get service in a few small spots :)
