nobody metioned any tracks other than ski and snowshoew tracks. a utv would have left some sort of track wouldnt it? still sounds sketchy to me.

From what I was told by people who looked at the pit. A vehicle had been stuck there. Then someone came in and squared off the hole with shovels and saws. It was a little too clean of a hole from just getting stuck. Whomever got the vehicle stuck would have had enough sense to round out the edges on the pit. Just my opinion.

Were there massive ruts leading up to the hole?

The Forest Service had a couple guys in a UTV on tracks that was doing some work up there. It did get stuck on that corner and caused some marks in the ground. Enough that you could get hurt if you hit it too hard. It did not go completely across the road. I was told that there was a ditch dug intentionally (as snowww1 reported). My interpretation is that a group took that as an opportunity to make the obstacle. The problem is now others are making light of this situation and calling it a stuck job by a UTV.

Do you have a picture of that? I know pics in the snow don't show really well, but I'm curious how different it looks from when I was up there.
