CAUTION!!!! Just got this email from HCPH club!

We received a report that someone has dug out the snow on the main Homestake road to create a gap in the road. This obstruction is about 10 feet wide and dug down deep. It seems as though this may have been done to purposely to cause damage to snowmobilers. It is approximately 3 miles up from hwy 24 on a blind corner. Please pass this information along and ride with caution.


WTF is wrong with people?! Just because one does not particularly care for snowmobilers doesn't mean it's ok to try and hurt somebody. THIS IS POTENTIALLY FATAL!! This same thing happened up on Buffalo Pass a few years ago. The trench was approx the same size and about 7 feet deep. A rider did actually get caught in this at dusk on his way to the parking lot after a day's ride. He ended up with a puntured lung and two broken arms and one collarbone.

You beat me to it PJ. I was just up there a week ago with some friends. On the way back from Holy Cross City we were running our sled wide open on the road. Anyone doing the same thing on that road with that ditch could kill themselves. Oh how I wish we could find the person responsible.

The report didnt iclude the line..."but it has been filled in..."? Dont know any details of course, but I KNOW FOR SURE that if I found something like this I would stay however long it took (as would my partners) to pull the shovels and at least try to ramp and fill... whatever it took to make it passable. I couldnt live with myself to drive on out... post a message only to hear what happened to the guy that didnt get the note. HOPE something like that happened?.... What an UNCONSCIONABLE thing for someone to do! Hopefully someone catches these "*#!&%#!"'s in the ACT! Stay safe guys...

I found out through a source that the Eagle River Water Shed Coalition was up there in the middle of the week before this was found. They are a greenie group that is repsponsible for camping and motorized closures. I was up there two weeks ago and there was a spot on a blind corner where a cat turned around. This left a small impression and I'm thinking they decided to make the hole there. I was told by the person who found this that they didn't have tools to fill in the hole (it would be a tiger trap at that point), but they did cross some trees to warn people and slow them down.

I called Scott Conklin of the Eagle River group amd he claimed no knowledge of this. I explained to him that was good because if somebody gets killed it wont be good for ANYBODY. His tone changed and said they sponsored a snow shoe trip but nobody had anything to do with this or any knowledge.

I once again told him if anybody knew anything they better come forward because a death wouldnt be good for anybody. He sounded like he knew what I was saying.

Did his group do this? I don't think so from my call to him. Does he know something? I really think so from my call, especially when I explained how a death would affect him and his group.

Keep your eyes open guys, catch whoever these guys are and push for attempted murder charges to these @#$%^s

I tried calling this group as well. I didn't leave a message because I wanted to talk to someone in person. Here is the website. You can find contributers and board members on this list. It's hard to accuse any one person or even group for that matter. All I can tell you is that their group opposes our presence and this "trap" was put together in the last week. I'll call the FS and see what they have to say about this issue.

EVERYONE EVERY WHERE that is out door motor sports needs to pay attention........ Take pics of just about any one on foot. They are doing the same, these people are violent COWARDS and the worst part is they are FULL of HYPOCRISY .. They have no mind for compromise and will not stop until you/we start trailing them and fillming them and posting thier misdeeds on their web sites. Shouldn't be too diffucult considering how inept they are. These people are satanists for they love the earth more than God and this will be to their demise.
