So I'm in the process of making the transition from a 2006 M7 to Ski Doo Rev. I loved that M7 but just ready something different! I look forward to joining the doo club! Any words of wisdom for riding the Rev chassis??

Some guys are naturals on them, but if you're like me you're gonna hate the sled for the first couple rides. But once you get used to it you will step back on an M chassis and wonder how you ever rode thing. Other than that do a little customising to make the sled comfortable to you and you'll love it.

What year, track length...an 800 I'm guessing?

Yeah, 2005 800 162. Brand new motor though and everything is in flawless condition. Van Amburg tunnel, ice age rails, timbersled skid, EGTs, Aaen pipe/can etc.

What will I not like on the first couple rides? I've ridden a couple Revs short distances but nothing serious.

I had a hard time carving with mine when I first got it, which made turning out of a climb difficult as well. Mind you unbenounced to me it was geared and clutched for racing, it was still difficult at first. The sled sounds like an amazing setup already. Check on you gearing and clutching and she should be a wicked machine. I just got the 162 strapped onto mine, from the 144 this summer. I'm excited to see how she does

Nice looking sled. I love the rev chassis. Once you get used to it you'll love it.

Looking at your new sled, most of the common complaints about Rev handling have been addressed....ski-lift, harder to throw around. Looks like the swaybar is already gone (good) so just play with that Timberlsed skid/shocks to get things to your liking. nice sled!

I love mine, I`m stll in the getting used to the sled mode, this season will be my and probably only the 6th ride on it did a bunch of handleing mods to it this summer, mine is an 04 so Snow Eliminators are a MUST, but I`m sure your new tunnel has good slots or holes for snow elimination, this is a must on a rev, especially my 04 but have the snow eliminator that just showed up today.

anyway getting used to it and lovin it, will be sidehilling and carving it up soon

Yes at first they are kinda hard to tip over, lose the swaybar, loosen the limiter strap and soften the front shocks and will work better and be easier to lay over along with comfortable height bar risers, 8-10 inch seems to be most common, mine has RSI 10inch.

Nice lookin sled, seems to have all the best mods and parts already on it, score Have Fun

WELCOME TO THE BEST PART OF THIS FORUM...

X2, Lol. welcome to the best selling lightest mountain sled since like forever I`m sure Cat and Polaris guys won`t agree but first real mountain sled was 94 skidoo and has been lightest since at least 08 Im sure this applies to Revs to but I bet, just don`t know that for a fact,

I love my Rev

only other sled i would consider is Possibly the new Pro RMK 800, but can`t afford that anyway, lol

I just traded my M6 for a '04 600. I'm stoked, now, but at first was super skeptical. It's stepping up to a big girl sled for sure..the 600 has a bunch of additions (handlebar risers, pow skis, really tight steering) compared to basically a trail sled m6 that wasn't any of those things. But, this thing can turn on a dime, and after we take the carbites (sp?) off, the handling will be easier.
Kinda of a crappy trade if I think about it(my m6 was in perfect condition beside hood damage) and the 600 needs spark plugs, carbs cleaned and the compressions bad so we have to fix that.
My boyfriend's a mechanic though so I'm in heaven, and it was his decision to trade..I didn't want to. I think it'll work out fine, though :)

One thing you will notice, it will take more effort to sidehill and hold it there. The weight is lower in the chassis, and takes more effort to get it off axis and wants to roll back. Some guys get by without the sway bar, others with narrow front end kits. If its not running a sway bar, the shocks need to be valved accordingly. Personally I don't like either of them. IMO, w/o the sway bar they have bad trail manners, even setup right. Narrow front ends are also tippy on the trails but boondock slightly better. For me 40" is the perfect stance, it stays flat hillclimbing and is still moveable.

Haha you not like the fact you didnt change over sooner.

Oh and you will not like the fact of helping all your buddies get unstuck, and the fact you have to get yourself unstuck, cause the others cant go that high.

where is 40" measured from? I meaured my skis center to center last night on the 04 rev I just bought and it was about 38 1/4" center to center. are you saying your wider than stock?

Because the '04 and later Summit REV's have skinny spindles, there is a 1" wide spacer on each ski. It's moveable to either narrow or widen the ski stance by about 2". A 40" stance should be stock A-arms center of spindles, give or take a little. So I guess technically in the wide position its 41" wide or 39" narrow, carbide to carbide. I'm guessing your in the narrow position.
