cat or skidoo

Like highclimber said, a good dealer seals the deal IMHO.
Especially with the XP, presonally I have over 700 miles on my 08 with the driveshaft welded and Its the best stock sled I've ever ridden!
But the M8 Is sweet too, the M8 has more mod potential if thats what your into...for an overall stock sled, I'd stick with the XP.

Good Luck!!!

does any one no the specs on thr two sleds (xp800.m8)??

XP has a claimed 151 HP.
M8 has a claimed 143 HP.

XP has 16" wide tracks.
M8 has 15" wide tracks.

XP Is about 30 pounds lighter (#450 Ish)
M8 480-490 Ish

M8 Is easier to handle
(Carve, Sidehill, etc)
M8 Is more reliable in most cases

But IMO the XP will stomp the M8 If set-up right!

JMHO

That's a tuff call :( Like the others have said I would look for dealer support first then price. both of them are one hell of a sled. but if dealer support and price wasn't a concern give the xp a try :beer;

i would go ride both and see witch on you like better
the both have problems
ski clutch issues
m8 need so work to run right

For my 2 cents the m8 really could be easier to throw around if you are at all new to sledding. Reliability also probably goes to the cat. If your main thing is to get places, the doo claws and stays on top and you can get away with more imo.

Too many XP's already out there, there are only so many heli's to go around. Better to get the M-8, then you will be more readily accepted to hook up with the gravy train.

A new m8 snow pro 162 inch track weighs 466, hp around 145, a xp800 163, hp149 weigh around 453 should be close and like they said all with the dealers in the area set up is the key to having a good running sled!

You have to ride them both...I think the xp is a great sled, but when I rode one I hated it. Feels completely different than the m's IMO. On the flip side, many ski-doo riders can't stand the way the m's feel. It would be worth the time and money to spend a day on each and decide for yourself.

now fill em and weigh them........ 30# difference between the two like it or not!

the weights you posted are worthless

test

Look, your going to drop at least $8000 on a sled, you GOTTA try them out, if only for an hour each, that way you can feel good about whatever you buy. My take, xp- stock, climbs like no other, strong motor(hp), not as reliable, not so easy to sidehill. M8- very reliable, tough, easy to ride.(new 09 may even be an awesome climber, we'll see). a little short on hp., heavier.

You need to take some good advice given above and #1 make sure you have a good dealer, not just when you are there to buy the sled. Talk to others that have bought there. O.K... my .02
