Cat dealers??

anyone know what really happened to waldrons? i was very surprised to hear this, they were a good shop. Great stock of arctic cat parts. Sad to see this after 38 years in business

GO TO WALDRON'S WEB SITE

Harvey explains it all on is web site, closing at the end of the month. The Larson automotive group does have very deep pockets, I've heard they are jumping in hard, I'm sure it will be a nice store, Rob doesnt do any thing half azz.

I will miss them!

Waldrons always had every part I needed in stock.

It was funny I never had to order a part, I would call and they told me they had several in stock. I like to get the job done rite away and the only way I could do that was with Waldrons help.

Compare that to any other dealer out there?

Great people and very knowledgable.

A real shame to see them go.

This is part of the issue with all dealers....it costs money to stock all those parts. The dealers that don't stock parts don't have hundreds of thousands of $$'s tied up, they only order what people need and make $$ on every part. It sucks for the customer because what we percieve as a "good" dealer will be the first to shut the doors. The dealers that don't make deals or don't stock much for parts are making good money.
A couple dealers seem to have found a good balance.
Also, Issaquah was the low-rent district in 1984, but I'm thinking it costs a pretty penny to have a store front there now.

Agreed. Have you seen that Gilman Auto Body sign? You need a welding helmet on at night while driving on I-90. They must be doing well to pay for the nuclear reactor it must take to power that bad boy.

Surprises me that anyone could go out of business selling sleds. Big bulky hard to move product with a short selling season that changes every year so you have to fire sell everything at the end of the year. A huge profit margin like 10% if EVERYTHING goes perfect on the sale and your customers aren't total chisellers who will drive out of state to save half of that. Little to no internet competition under cutting your parts sales by a few percent. Huge community of happy customers who want you to make a few bucks and keep the shop going so they would have a place to spend their fun money, face to face. To honor Waldron's I'm going to call my dealer and chisel another 3% off my snowchecks. No way I am leaving a whopping 3% on the table, if anyone makes even a few dollars off me I feel castrated.

It probably wouldn't cost to much to start up a Arctic Cat parts distribution center out of a garage. Buy a dozen or so used sleds and part them out. There's a lot of them for sale for cheap. They seem to be worth more piece by piece than a running unit. :face-icon-small-win

Sad to see all the shops closing up lately. It a tough business to be in right now, wish the crew good luck at their new homes. Hopefully people will try to spend more money locally.

If any Waldron customers need a new place to get parts/service feel free to stop by and check us out.

Problem is we need a dealer to utilize warranty work.
