011' Clutch kit

Yes, we got our clutching all figured out last spring. $227 for the kit which includes helix, weights and delrins. Using stock springs with this setup. Very satisfied with the bottom-end and mid range gains. These are in stock and ready to ship.

We also are offering a new primary clutch mod for the PRO's or older dragons. Re-machining the clutch sheaves which is giving us better power transferred through the clutches, less belt slipping and lower belt/clutch temperatures (testing showed on average 20 degrees lower). This mod, including balancing is $152 for a drive clutch with 0 miles, if sending in a drive clutch with miles on it add $69 for labor plus any parts needed for a clutch service. Your drive clutch does need sent in to us and turn around time is typically 1 week or less.

Send them your clutch, it's great mod. As part of the process they shimmed my belt side clearance to what I requested. Polaris still sends them loose on SC so that you can run the wider 1080 belt. The balance job alone is worth $50 and it's more precise than the factory balance.
I doubt anyone is going to tell you what they do to the clutch, at least not this early in the season. Carl's did test last spring to find reduced belt temps similar to what you get from venting-around 20 degrees less.
It's one of the few mods I'm doing to my Pro for a while.

Why is all this clutch work, shock revalveing etc. needing to be done on a new sled? cant the factory seem to get it right?

Because the factory sets the clutch up to work for a wide range of people in a wider range of altitudes. Fine tuning just gets the maximum out of your clutch for where you like to ride. Kinda like how you like your bars and brake lever, etc. They don't know exactly what set-up you like so they just get it as close as they think. That's just my observation on it. None of the mfg's get it perfect for YOU. I put the Carl's clutching in my 08 D8 and noticed a big difference. It's worth the money. I had them install it in my new Pro also.

So, if I send in my clutches you can install the kit, balance and the resurface the clutches for $366 ish ?

Call Curtis in the service department at 208-853-5550. Send him your clutches and he can get them set up for you.

Agreed, plus no two sleds are exactly the same from the manufacturer. A buddy and I just both bought the exact same sleds. We are both joking about which one is "faster" (mine of coarse).

This one gets the Carl's treatment. Any bets on wether or not it will be a "runner"?

I'm curious what those who had the mod and clutching done thought of it after the full season? And wondering if anything is going to change in the kit for the next season? I'm thinkin about having this done to my '12 Assault from the start... :face-icon-small-coo

I did the clutch kit and had all 4 shocks rebuilt. Loved the clutch kit...going to take it off the 11 and put it on the 12. Did not try the shocks stock so could not really tell the difference there. Debating if I should switch those or just keep the new stock ones on it.

Wonder if the clutch kit is the same for the one I got for my '10 Dragon from them? If so only has 200 miles and would like to swap it to my new Assault.. Also hoping the Assault shocks are better then the Dragon setup lol..

Any comments from those of you running the Carl's setup.

What altitude are you using it at, clutch engagement rpm, power, efficiency, etc?

Satisfied?....would you do it again?

Thanks,
Murph

I had the sheeve cut performed. and so far its ok. clutches are still hot and i just blew a belt at 400 miles. But i did have my motor mounts come lose and we have had a soild 3-4 feet of fresh everywhere so its around 400 miles of wide open.
This is on a 11 with 68 MTX's and stock helix.

Just sent my primary in this week to get done. I am not doing the clutch kit at this time. I like to make one change at a time. If you change a bunch of stuff you don't really know what did what. You may gain 5 sled lengths on one change but drop 3 on another...... then thinking all is well because you gained 2!!

We don't have any snow here (So bad we went and cut wood yesterday!) but the week I get the clutch back I will be heading to the Big Horns and can really test it out then.

I need to clarify....
I'm interested in the Carl's clutch kit only. Indy Dan balanced and machined my sheaves and, based on my experience, will be doing that service for me from now on.

I'm interested in the helix, weight, spring setup that Carl's offers. Those of you that bought thus setup, what have you experiences been?

Thanks.
